When the Venmo Credit Card first launched in October 2020, it wasn’t widely available. Over several months, Venmo app users received notifications when they could apply for the card. Beginning on Feb. 16, however, all eligible Venmo customers can apply directly through the Venmo app. To be eligible, you must have had a Venmo account for at least 30 days that’s in good standing.
The Venmo Credit Card earns customized cash-back rewards that automatically adjust each month based on your spending habits. You’ll earn 3% cash back on your top spending category and 2% back in the second-highest spending category. All other purchases earn 1% cash back. Combined earnings in the 2% and 3% categories are unlimited for the first year, and are capped at $10,000 after that.
The eight possible cash-back categories are:
-
Dining and nightlife.
-
Bills and utilities.
-
Health and beauty.
-
Grocery stores.
-
Transportation.
-
Entertainment.
The Venmo Credit Card features a QR code that other users can scan to initiate a payment request or split purchases. You also scan the QR code to activate your new card. The card is fully managed through the Venmo app; you’ll use it to track spending, pay bills, view rewards balances and more.
The Venmo Credit Card has an annual fee of $0. It doesn’t offer a sign-up bonus.
