Farmhouse decor has been a prominent design style in recent years, popular for its ability to create inviting and warm spaces in the home. Embracing natural wood, vintage furniture, and cottage architectural details, farmhouse is a cozy and timeless style of decorating.
While farmhouse decor ideas typically lend themselves best to older homes that have interesting details that help create the look, the farmhouse trend has no doubt been embraced in recent years in newer homes too. With the right furniture and colors, a farmhouse style can be successfully achieved to create a cozy home.
home decor trend still relevant in the world of interior design? We spoke to the interior design experts to get their take on whether this is one to take forward into 2024.
Is farmhouse decor still on trend?
‘Farmhouse style has seen many iterations over the past decade, with Joanna Gaines of Magnolia Farms starting a craze when she popularized shiplap on her show, Fixer Upper. It’s evolved quite a bit since then,’ says Lina Galvao of interior design studio Curated Nest.
‘I would not say it’s no longer on trend, though the look of it has evolved to become fresher, more colorful, and more modern,’ she suggests. While Lina proposes that farmhouse decor may be somewhat less of a core interior design trend, she suggests that the farmhouse look is more of a timeless design style that will be continually embraced by homeowners.
Brian Paquette: At Home
For Lina, embracing farmhouse decor yet keeping it relevant for 2024 is all about ensuring it has a modern twist: ‘I think there’s room for this farmhouse look, which could be easily updated to become more modern via the hardware or lighting to adapt to current interior design trends as needed.’
Nicole Cullum, interior designer and founder of Color Caravan also suggests that the timeless nature of farmhouse decor means it’s one that’s here to stay; striking a balance between modern and traditional decor.
‘Any good trend has something timeless to it. Farmhouse decor has stuck around because it speaks to our love of pairing natural textures with modern color trends and palettes. Rustic wood tones mixed with matte blacks, warm neutrals, and crisp whites give a comforting and sophisticated style without going overly modern or too traditional.’
‘I hope the beautiful parts of farmhouse decor, like mixing organic textures with modern color palettes continue in design,’ Nicole says.
Chicago-based interior designer Kate Marker’s advice is to embrace the simplicity and natural beauty of farmhouse decor by focusing on its original details.
‘Farmhouse decor can still be relevant if done in an authentic, repurposed way. Actual farmhouse details that can be installed in a fresh setting lend warmth and interest – think of a farm sink, reclaimed barn wood or beams, or an old steel window. Keeping things rustic and simple so the natural beauty of materials is on display is always a winning way to channel a farmhouse style.’
Kate Marker Interiors, Kate oversees all design projects to ensure they are a reflection of the client while incorporating the KMI aesthetic. Kate’s strengths lie in her endless ideas & inspiration, relentless work ethic, unwavering vision, and great sense of humor, which, lucky for everyone she works with, is infectious.
While interior designers say that farmhouse decor is a timeless look that will most likely continue to be embraced in 2024, the design style can be interpreted in a number of ways, especially in the kitchen. Tom Howley, Creative Design Director at Tom Howley Kitchens explains how you can achieve a farmhouse kitchen, creating a classic and homely feel.
‘Farmhouse interiors are known for their original features – rustic beams, exposed stone walls, weathered floors, and quirky nooks. Kitchens within these idyllic properties are often designed with a focus on comfort, traditionalism, and tactility, making this style an appealing choice for those wanting to create an inviting sanctuary.’
‘Traditional shaker-style cabinetry is perfect for creating a welcoming, lived-in look. The shaker style has universal appeal with beautifully balanced proportions that focus on scale, symmetry, and simplicity. Natural wood is an integral part of farmhouse kitchens, as it adds a sense of warmth and tactility. You can incorporate wood in the form of flooring, stand-alone furniture such as a farmhouse table, shelving, chopping boards, or integrated wooden trays to break up painted cabinetry.’
It’s clear that farmhouse decor is a timeless design style that’s here to stay. Perfect for achieving a home that feels welcoming and laid back, farmhouse decor is all about embracing the original, rustic features and building upon these by decorating with neutrals and adding cozy textiles.
However, to ensure this style doesn’t end up looking dated, consider a more modern farmhouse style that balances the old and new for a fresh take on this core design trend.

‘Tis the season for holiday decor. Getting your home prepped and ready for the festivities is a joy and really, as will any home decor, there’s no right or wrong way to go about it. That being said, if you want your Christmas decor to look beautiful and reflect your personal style and traditions, there are loose rules to be abided. Meaning there are also mistakes to be made.
We asked designers what common Christmas decor mistakes we should all be avoiding this year. From going OOT with new decorations to not sticking to a cohesive theme, here are the holiday decor faux pas best to avoid if you want to create a chic and timeless display.
5 Christmas decorating mistakes
Christmas trends. Just like with interior design trends, you want to be inspired by these styles but don’t let them overcome the looks you really love and that have meaning to you no matter how kitsch they may be. Luckily nostalgia is a designer-approved trend this year anyways.
‘In any given year, my biggest piece of advice is not to feel pressured to do any decorating you don’t love!’ says designer Kathy Kuo. ‘The holiday season can be stressful and the decor aspect is supposed to be fun – if a so-called ‘Christmas decor trend’ is adding to your stress, just say no! If you love simple white twinkle lights in the windows and a few vases of greenery instead of a humongous tree, go for it!’
‘Going over the top with colorful lights can also lead to visual clutter rather than creating a warm, inviting aesthetic that compliments your existing décor. Buying everything new and matching can look contrived or sterile and doesn’t honor the meaning and traditions of the holiday.’
‘Instead, consider taking a trip down memory lane this Christmas. Bring out your grandmother’s china and napkins that have been carefully stored away in the attic. Mix ornaments from your relatives, or things you’ve collected over time or DIY Christmas decorations. Not only does this approach help to honor the past and keep the memories alive, it is also a sustainable choice, utilizing what we already have instead of purchasing new items. This can evoke a sense of nostalgia and create a warm and homey atmosphere that truly embodies the spirit of Christmas.’
Kati Curtis
maximalist holiday decor, there should still be something that ties it all together like a color scheme or a reoccurring pattern.
‘A significant Christmas decorating mistake is deviating from a theme or failing to follow a cohesive decorating plan. Without a guiding theme or plan, decorations might clash or lack a unified vision, resulting in a hodgepodge of styles that just looks messy.’ explains designer Jennifer Davis.
‘Sticking to a specific theme or design scheme helps tie everything together, ensuring a polished and inviting holiday setting that resonates with a consistent style and charm throughout the space.’
4. Not blending faux and real folliage
While there are now so many incredibly realistic faux Christmas garlands, wreaths, and greenery, you can really elevate them by adding in real foliage or dried fruits. This will make and faux greenery look fuller and more convincing. You could ditch the fake evergreen all together and have a go a making your own garland.
Designer Bethany Adams believes it’s going real with your evergreen that ensures the most effective Christmas decor; ‘The wrong faux greenery can be a major faux pas. Instead, reach for dried, real evergreen boughs for your mantle or wreaths. The look is far more luxe, and just as reusable.’
Little Valley Large 4 Cup Bag of Dried Orange Slices
Faux Winter Evergreen 6′ Garland
Flock Pine Garland
5. Creating too much visual clutter
The whole point in Christmas decor is for it to add something beautiful and visual and creative to your home. But bringing in all this extra decor and Christmas lighting and a full-sized Christmas tree can risk looking cluttered, so to avoid this just ensure you have focal points within your rooms. Nothing should be competing.
So for example in a room where you have the tree, keep the rest of the decor minimal – candles on the mantle, lights at the window but no large pieces of decor that will distract from the main event, and ensure to include some negative space.
‘When diving into Christmas decorating, it’s essential to consider the aspect of proportion, especially concerning height. Neglecting to do this can lead to an unbalanced display where items of varying heights compete for attention. A smart approach involves creating visual interest by varying the heights of decorations while maintaining a sense of cohesion and harmony.’ advises Jennifer Davis.
Avoiding these holiday decor mistakes, while also still following your own traditions and style, will ensure your Christmas decor feels both chic and characterful. Just remember to go with your tried and tested formulas, have something cohesive flowing through the scheme, and don’t go over the top with bringing a load of new decor into your home and really crowding your room. And of course, have fun with it, potentially the biggest mistake you can make is getting so carried away with aesthetics that the once-a-year activity of decorating your home for the holidays becomes a stress, rather than a joy.

Sustainability has been a buzz word in the home décor industry for years, but the types of eco-friendly practices and products that consumers gravitate towards change often. According to a 2023 study by NielsenIQ, 78 percent of U.S. consumers say that a sustainable lifestyle is important to them, and in a survey from digital supply chain company Blue Yonder, 69 percent of respondents said they would pay more for sustainable products. But, even though they are seeking out those sustainable products and brands, after so many years of pursuing “greener pastures” consumers have wised up to many of the greenwashing practices that have permeated the industry and marketing tactics.
Now, customers are doing their research before they align their dollars with sustainable and eco-friendly brands and products, and that means retailers need to do the same in 2024.
Authenticity First
Before carrying any eco-friendly products and brands, retailers should invest time into researching them just like their customers. Terms like green, eco-friendly, all-natural, earth-friendly, plant derived, organic — but not organic certified — and non-toxic can be used by manufacturers without meeting any legally required testing or standards.
Retailers should look for third-party certifications — examples include Fair Trade certified, Environmental Working Group Verified, B-Corp, Made Safe and Cradle to Cradle certifications— to be sure they are picking vetted products that meet basic industry standards for those labels. Transparency also goes along way when vetting new products and brands. Consumers gravitate towards brands that feel like they have nothing to hide, so brands that are willing to share their sustainability goals, production processes, and waste and recycling statistics, will continue to resonate with them in 2024.
Material World
Following the rise of biophilic design — or design trends that prioritize connections with nature — green home décor trends in 2024 will be founded on their materials. Sustainable natural materials like bamboo, cork, coconut, straw, cob and natural fabrics like hemp, wool and jute will be more popular because of their renewability, natural origins and — in some cases —recyclability over materials like resin and synthetic fibers. Real woods and stones will be less popular in this category because they are perceived as less renewable and/or recyclable. Carrying products made with recycled metals, plastics and other materials will be key in attracting eco-conscious consumers who want the look of synthetic materials like plastic. Repurposed objects — think newspapers, license plates, fabric scraps, discarded books, and deadstock wallpaper, carpeting, paint and fabric — will also make a big impact.

Moving home is such an exciting time. I am a bit of a moving addict actually, it comes with the territory of being a serial renter. I would get so excited about starting over with my interior design style, choosing new sheets, picking out new prints, and deciding what style of rug would suit my new place best.
And after years of moving, I have worked out what pieces are the most important. I have noticed what pieces come with from home to home, and what’s made it out of the rentals and finally into my own space with me.
interior trends, so it can be tricky investing in pieces for a new home that will stand the test of time. But as both a pro home mover and the Head of Design at Homes & Gardens, I feel equipped enough to share with you the new house decor buys I have never regretted buying. And yes, they are purely aesthetical decor, and of course, you want to be making practical investments like the best mattress, and good quality kitchen appliances too, but I think investing in decor is equally important when shopping for a new home.
What to buy for a new home
Moving into a new home can be a stressful time, so I do think it’s important to allow yourself to get a bit excited about investing in new timeless pieces and treating yourself to decor that’s going to instantly elevate your home and make the new space feel more like you.
Some of these buys are ones I think have longevity and will stay with you move after move, but I’ve also pieces I think are key to making a house feel like a home and for me are the first things I pull out of the boxes when I get to a new space.
West Elm Jute Boucle Rug
Anthropologie Gleaming Primrose Mirror
Case in point, the Anthropologie Gleaming Primrose Mirror. It lived leaning up against a wall in one of my apartments and it still worked.
Pom Pom At Home Chatham Cotton Matelasse Coverlet
I like that this set as it has a subtle texture to it, it adds interest without the need for color or a bold pattern. It would love wonderful layering up with both soft neutrals and brighter colors depending on the look you want to achieve.
Amber Lewis for Anthropologie Marana Table Lamp
CB2 White Picture Frame
Anthropologie Glenna Platter
A Table Full of Love by Sky McApline
Crate and Barrel Edge Drink Glasses
Diptyque Feu de Bois Candle
Diptyque candles instantly elevate a space, and when moving I always unpack them pretty quickly and dot them around surfaces to make the chaos feel slightly calmer and more sophisticated. Diptyque’s ‘Feu de Bois’ is ideal for this time of year, smokey and woodsy and delicious.
So there is my list of new home buys I think are essential. A mix of both investment pieces that every new home should have, and small items that you should treat yourself to to instantly make your space feel more like home. I will say when moving into a new home, do spend a bit of time in the space before buying anything new, the pieces I don’t regret buying are ones I have mulled over, or have had a vision that I know I will love for years to come, not just panic bought because something is on trend or because I am desperate to fill a blank space.

Bright, airy, all-white spaces have certainly had their moment in the sun, but as summer creeps toward fall, we’re noticing design trends take a darker turn. Just take Behr Paint Company’s pick for color of the year: a soft, sophisticated shade of black called Cracked Pepper. They’ve got the data to back up this pick, too. According to the press release, more than half of Americans say black tones give a home fresh energy and an updated vibe.
It’s not hard to see why this dark color is poised to overtake its brighter alternatives as the neutral du jour. Black has the same timeless, goes-with-anything appeal as lighter neutrals like white or beige—but without any of the danger of looking bland or boring. It’s sleek, dramatic, and a sure-fire way to punch up any color scheme.
Painting your walls jet-black is one way to try out this trend, of course. But if you’re not quite ready to dive in headfirst, these black home decor picks will help you dip your toes into darker waters:

Whether you’re decorating your first dorm room or giving your home a style overhaul, one of our most surprising sources for statement pieces is Urban Outfitters. From bohemian-chic rattan furniture and artful storage pieces to minimalist shelving and charming bathroom essentials, the retailer is home to some of the coolest finds for every type of interior design style.
Some of the top design trends of 2023 are also the most enduring ones. Sustainability continues to be top of mind, as natural and eco-conscious materials continue to be favored choices. We can also thank Succession for ushering in the “quiet luxury” trend, an understated high-end aesthetic spilling out of fashion wardrobes and into the rest of the home: think cozy textiles and upholstery made from plush fabrics. On the flip side, surrealist shapes and playing with scale will be on the rise as people go for Schiaparelli-esque interior style over minimalism.
Ultimately, consider designing around your own personality and lifestyle, regardless of whether or not something fits a trend. As one study recently found, homeowners are decorating their homes with “professionalization,” not “personalization,” in mind — so whether you love a lived-in look, or feel more at home in a ‘grammable hotel-like space, we suggest going with items that spark joy.

We all want our homes to look attractive and reflect our personal style, and we choose décor items to achieve both goals. Sadly, that sometimes means facing a substantial decorating or renovation cost.
If you plan to live in the house you own for years and years, decorate as you see fit. However, if you live in a rental and could move at any time, or if you plan to sell your home, think twice before investing in furniture, art or any fixtures you can’t take with you. The décor you choose today might not fit the vibe of your next home — forcing you to start all over — and if you plan to sell, some of the choices you make could turn off potential buyers.
I’m a Real Estate Agent: Here Are 8 Renovations Buyers Want the Most in 2023
Learn: How to Get Money Back on Your Everyday Purchases
GOBankingRates reached out to people in the real estate and design fields to ask their advice about which décor items are a waste of money. Eight of their ideas follow.
Wallpaper
Wallpaper was a staple in homes in the 1960s and ’70s — look for it the next time you watch a rerun of “The Brady Bunch” or “Columbo” — but it fell out of favor. While you’ll see designers on HGTV shows incorporate wallpaper on some projects today, it’s usually on a sparse basis.
“Wallpaper patterns can quickly become outdated as design trends evolve. Opting for wallpaper with bold patterns or motifs that are currently in vogue might be appealing to you at the moment, but it could potentially look dated in a few years, making the room feel less attractive and in need of updating,” said Boyd Rudy, Michigan real estate associate broker with the MiReloTeam through Keller Williams.
Avoid These: 6 Household Staples That Are a Waste of Money
Themed Décor
Wendy Wang, a home design and renovation specialist, said it’s wise to resist the temptation to decorate according to a theme.
“For instance, a nautical theme with anchor accents, a sailing artwork or a beach theme with shells everywhere; they may seem appealing at first, especially to complement a certain environment or to show personal interests,” said Wang, owner of F&J Outdoor. “These items usually make a room look tacky rather than chic and sophisticated. They also age a space pretty quickly as the novelty wears off.”
Instead, she said to use the themed pieces as a complement, not a focal point.
“I would recommend investing in timeless, classic pieces and incorporate smaller accents to bring out the theme subtly. It’s really about balancing taste and personality with broader appeal,” she added.
Expensive Window Treatments
When it comes to covering windows, one home-design expert thinks you should keep it simple.
“Many people waste money on buying expensive and elaborate curtains to decorate their homes,” said Jessica Wilson, the editor and co-founder of InYouths LED Mirrors. “While these pieces may add visual appeal, they are often a wasteful investment. Fancy curtains can be difficult to clean and maintain, leading to a shorter lifespan compared to simpler window treatments. Additionally, these curtains may not complement future home décor, making them bad for resale value. Their intricate design can also make a room appear cluttered and unattractive. Instead, opt for simpler and more cost-effective window treatments to create an inviting and timeless home.”
Artificial Plants
If you want greenery in your home, real estate industry veteran Pete Evering said you should grow and care for real plants instead of buying artificial ones — especially if you plan to sell your home anytime soon.
“While faux plants may not significantly impact resale value, they can leave a negative first impression on your home, making it look cheap and lacking authenticity,” said Evering, the business development manager at Utopia Property Management. “Their manufactured appearance doesn’t give a natural feel and diminishes the overall visual appeal of the space. Visitors or potential buyers may perceive them as a sign of neglect or a shortcut taken in decorating. Instead of providing the freshness and vitality that real plants offer, faux plants can make a room feel lifeless and uninviting.”
Wall-to-Wall Carpeting
On some of those older TV shows, you’ll see carpeting — not wood, tile or luxury vinyl — on the floors. Sometimes even in the bathrooms. But real estate expert Roman Smolevskiy, the owner of A+ Construction and Remodeling in Sacramento, California, recommended making another choice.
“From a resale standpoint, wall-to-wall carpeting can be a detriment. Many buyers today prefer hardwood or tiled floors, both for their aesthetic appeal and their durability. Carpeting is often associated with allergens and can hide dust, dirt and other pollutants, causing potential health concerns. This can turn off health-conscious buyers or those with allergies.
“Design-wise, carpeting can make rooms appear smaller and dated, affecting the overall attractiveness of the house. With the current trend leaning toward minimalist and modern interiors, carpeting can seem out of place and hopelessly old-fashioned.”
Ornate Light Fixtures
“Picture a lavish crystal chandelier in a minimalist living room or an industrial-style pendant in a classic Victorian. It seems stylish at the time of purchase but is a waste of resources because it can clash with the home’s overall design,” said Zackary Smigel, the founder of Real Estate License Wizard.
“Aside from the aesthetic discord, such a statement piece can be a double-edged sword regarding resale. Potential buyers may find it overbearing or at odds with their taste, forcing them to consider the replacement cost even before purchase. I’ve had clients who loved a house but hesitated because of an ornate, expensive lighting fixture that needed to match their style.”
Water Fountains
Like wallpaper and light fixtures, beauty is in the eye of the beholder when it comes to water fountains.
“Yes, a beautiful water fountain near your home’s entrance or in the center of your backyard can add a touch of elegance to your property and promote a relaxing ambiance,” said Benas Leonavicius, the founder of HomeCaprice.
“However, water fountains can be very expensive décor items in terms of initial expense and installation. If you plan on selling the property in the future, you should also know they don’t add any monetary value to your home. In fact, they could even decrease the value of your home in the eyes of some homebuyers since prominent water features like this require frequent upkeep that could easily outweigh its merely aesthetic benefits.”
Throw Blankets
“One item that I often see people wasting money on when decorating their home is expensive designer throw blankets,” said Pieter Runchman, a Los Angeles interior designer who is the founder and CEO of Floor Theory. “Sure, they may be made with luxurious materials and have a trendy design, but the reality is that most people don’t want to deal with the hassle of getting them professionally cleaned every time they need a refresh. It’s like having a beautiful piece of art that you can’t touch or enjoy without fear of ruining it.”

1. Eye-catching curb appeal to attract luxury buyers
Creating excellent curb appeal is crucial when it comes to making a lasting impression on potential buyers in Maryland. The exterior of a home sets the stage for what lies inside, and a well-maintained and inviting exterior can pique buyers’ curiosity and make them eager to explore further. From the moment they step onto the property, buyers can get a sense of the overall aesthetics and condition of the home.
It’s important to consider the season and make updates accordingly. During the spring and fall, focus on tasks such as freshening up mulch, pruning shrubs, adding seasonal flowers, staining the deck, power washing walkways, and cleaning gutters. These simple yet impactful updates can greatly enhance the overall appearance of the home and create an inviting atmosphere that draws buyers in.
2. An expansive kitchen for entertaining
Buyers are often drawn to homes with updated kitchens because they recognize the value and enjoyment that comes with a well-appointed culinary space. Whether it’s preparing meals for loved ones or hosting social events, an updated kitchen sets the stage for a comfortable and luxurious lifestyle.
In luxury Maryland homes, you can expect to find high-end countertops crafted from premium materials such as granite, quartz, or marble. These countertops not only add a touch of elegance but also provide durability and easy maintenance. Additionally, the cabinetry in an updated kitchen is typically designed with a blend of functionality and style, featuring custom-made or semi-custom options that offer ample storage space and sleek designs.
Top-of-the-line appliances are another hallmark of an updated luxury kitchen. From professional-grade stovetops and ovens to built-in refrigerators and dishwashers, these appliances combine cutting-edge technology with exceptional performance. These materials not only enhance the aesthetic appeal, but also provide durability and longevity.
When it comes to other aspects of the interior, luxury Maryland homes boast updated features that reflect the latest trends and advancements in technology. From state-of-the-art appliances to high-end light switches and fixtures, every aspect of the home is carefully selected to offer the best in terms of functionality and aesthetics. 4. A spa-like bathroom and custom closets
An updated bathroom is a key luxury home feature in Maryland, particularly the primary bath, designed with luxurious finishes and attention to detail to create a spa-like experience.
Luxury bathrooms often feature high-end materials such as marble or granite countertops, exquisite tile work, and premium fixtures.
The focus of an updated bathroom in a luxury home is to enhance the personal space and lifestyle of the homeowners. It goes beyond mere functionality and incorporates elements of comfort and indulgence. Features such as spacious walk-in showers with multiple shower heads, soaking tubs, heated floors, and smart technology for lighting and temperature control are often included to enhance the overall bathing experience.
Custom-built separate his-and-her walk-in closets are a sought-after addition in luxury homes. These closets are designed to maximize personal space and organization, offering ample storage for clothing, accessories, and personal belongings. With dedicated space for each partner, these closets ensure convenience and ease when getting ready for the day.
5. Smart home innovations for luxury living
Smart home features have become highly desirable and sought-after in luxury Maryland homes. These features encompass a range of technological advancements that enhance convenience, energy efficiency, and overall home management.
Updated light fixtures and switches allow homeowners to easily control and customize the lighting ambiance throughout their living spaces. With smart thermostats, temperature control can be managed remotely, optimizing energy usage and providing personalized comfort.
Luxury homes often incorporate energy-efficient appliances, which not only contribute to a greener lifestyle, but also offer the latest advancements in functionality and performance.
6. A stylized mudroom for convenience
In today’s fast-paced and busy lifestyles, homeowners value functionality and efficiency. A mudroom offers the perfect solution by providing a designated area to remove and store outerwear, shoes, and other outdoor accessories. This helps keep the main living areas clean and clutter-free, promoting a sense of order and organization. Homeowners can incorporate custom storage solutions such as built-in cubbies, shelves, and cabinets to accommodate individual needs. The materials and finishes selected for the mudroom can complement the overall interior design style of the home, further enhancing its visual appeal.
The increasing popularity of mudrooms among potential homebuyers for Redfin Premier listings is a reflection of the desire for a seamless and well-organized lifestyle. It not only enhances the functionality and convenience of a luxury home, but also adds value and desirability in the competitive real estate market. Homebuyers recognize the practicality and efficiency that a mudroom brings, making it a must-have feature for those seeking a convenient and well-designed living environment.
7. A focus on sustainability
Sustainably sourced materials for floors and building materials have gained popularity in luxury homes. Homeowners are increasingly conscious of the environmental impact of their choices and prefer materials that are eco-friendly and responsibly sourced. These materials not only contribute to a more sustainable home, but also add a touch of elegance and uniqueness to the interior design.
High-efficiency heating and cooling units are another important aspect of smart home features in luxury properties. These systems optimize energy consumption, provide precise temperature control, and ensure a comfortable indoor environment year-round. By utilizing advanced technologies and smart controls, these systems offer both energy savings and enhanced comfort.
8. The perfect color palette for your space
Choosing the right paint colors is essential in transforming the look and feel of a home. Today’s contemporary paint colors reflect modern design trends, adding freshness and style to each room. A cohesive color palette creates flow and coordination with furniture and decor, enhancing the overall appeal. Up-to-date paint colors contribute to a sense of modernity and timelessness, attracting potential buyers looking for a well-maintained space. Neutral tones provide versatility and allow buyers to envision their own style. Consider factors like natural light and room size when selecting colors. Consulting with professionals can provide valuable guidance in choosing the perfect paint colors for your home.
Extra features and amenities to help stand out
In the luxury real estate market, there are several additional features and amenities that can elevate a Redfin Premier listing, making it stand out from other luxury properties. Two such features that have gained popularity are an upper-level laundry room and a butler’s kitchen. These additions not only enhance the functionality and convenience of the home, but also contribute to its overall appeal and desirability among potential buyers who are willing to pay a premium.
An upper-level laundry room
Placing the laundry facilities on the same floor as the bedrooms eliminates the need to carry heavy loads of laundry up and down the stairs, saving time and effort. This feature offers a practical solution for managing household chores and streamlining daily routines. Additionally, an upper-level laundry room can also include custom storage solutions, built-in cabinets, and countertops, further enhancing its functionality and organization.
A butler’s kitchen
This additional kitchen space is designed to facilitate meal preparation, entertaining, and catering without interfering with the main kitchen used for everyday cooking. It typically includes extra countertop space, sink, refrigerator, and storage for cookware and supplies. The butler’s kitchen allows homeowners to entertain guests and host elaborate events with ease, keeping the main kitchen tidy and private. This feature is particularly appealing to those who enjoy hosting gatherings or have a preference for professional-level cooking and entertaining.
