Are there comedies you don’t understand the hype about and never get a laugh from you? For example, I don’t see why people think Napolean Dynamite is so funny, but it’s a cult classic, and everyone I know loves it. After polling on the internet, people voted these comedy films and television shows were not funny.
1. Bridesmaids (2011)
“Bridesmaids. All of my girlfriends think it’s hilarious. But I don’t get it,” someone confessed. “Right?! For some reason, it was lauded as a brilliant comedy by critics. I would say it was just trainwreck cringe from start to finish, but I walked out of the theatre before the end. I’m guessing the finale was just as bad as the rest,” added another.
2. Seinfeld
“Seinfeld fell flat for me. I respect its status and everything but could not vibe with it. I always wanted to give it another go but probably won’t,” one admitted, “Yep,” agreed another. “It’s one I don’t get at all. I’ve tried watching Seinfeld, but I find it boring, if not irritating.”
3. Adam Sandler Movies
“Seinfeld, it just wasn’t that funny. And Adam Sandler’s movies, he tries too hard. Don’t get me wrong. He has had some good ones. But overall just not that funny. The movie Funny People was so unfunny I almost walked out. I love Adam Sandler from the 90s through the mid-2000s.”
4. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986)
“Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, another shared, “He is the incarnation of every school bully I ever had, mixed with genuine annoying qualities. He is super popular, gets away with everything, everything works out for him, forces his friends to partake in his shenanigans, etc.”
5. Madea Franchise
“Any of the Madea stuff, it’s pandering to a very specific demographic. Looking from the outside, it’s making a callous and damaging commentary on that demographic,” someone suggested.
6. Friends
The show Friends. I never found it enjoyable and quite annoying,” someone stated. “Ross Geller is so irritating and whiny! I don’t know why anyone finds him funny,” one suggested. Another joked with a Chandler Bing twist, “Could it BE any more annoying?”
“I don’t like Friends either. But I’ve watched it with people that do. And you can tell they developed a bond with the characters. You laugh like you are hanging out with them in that coffee shop. If you can’t relate to the characters, then it’s just six turds drinking coffee,” another suggested.
7. The Office
“The U.S. version of The Office,” one admitted. “Someone told me once it was a comedy for white people, and speaking as a white dude, I thought it was one of the most painfully unfunny things I’ve watched. I never cracked a smile or laughed at it once.” Another agreed, Michael Scott is the worst!”
8. The Big Bang Theory
“The Big Bang Theory is not funny, sexist, and dumb,” said one. “Also, as with most sitcoms, it lived long after it should have. Leonard’s mom was toxic and sad, not funny.” “The Big Bang Theory” is the obvious answer, but I thought all of the Hangover movies were terrible,” another added.
9. Jim Carrey Movies
“Jim Carrey movies. I don’t know why. It’s too dumb, yet I love Space Balls and films like that. I can’t put my finger on it. Except for Liar Liar, I liked that one,” someone stated. Another added, “Ace Ventura. I find it annoying.”

10. Pineapple Express
“Pineapple Express, for whatever reason, I just couldn’t get into it,” said one. “Pineapple Express did absolutely nothing for me,” agreed another. “Just stupid people, doing stupid things, and a breakfast scene at the end that felt tacked on. I can’t understand its popularity. Other than it’s a stoner movie. You may need to be stoned to enjoy it. Not my thing.”
