Update 3/11/21: These two deals (the grocery deal on Freedom cards and the fee waiver on Sapphire Preferred) are continuing beyond March when they were originally slated to end.
Original Post:
A reader lets us know about two offers which are currently available through March:
- Chase Freedom Flex/Freedom Unlimited: Get 5% rewards on grocery spend, up to $12,000 in the first year, on the Freedom Flex and Freedom Unlimited card. This is the same offer which recently expired online, and is apparently available now in branch through March 20. This should come with the standard $200 signup bonus after $500 spend, and it has the extra 5% grocery offer attached as well. This is likely available on the Freedom Flex and Freedom Unlimited cards. Call your branch to verify these details.
- Chase Sapphire Preferred: Get the $95 annual fee waived for the first year. This offer is slated to be available through March 21 in Chase branches. It comes with the regular 60,000 points signup bonus after $4,000 spend, and hopefully comes with the new $50 grocery credit. If that’s the case, it’s a pretty nice offer, though still falls short of the 80,000 offer we saw a few months ago. Call your branch to verify the details of the offer.
I’ve seen reports of Chase doing increased branch-type services over the phone due to Covid – I wonder if it’s possible to schedule a phone meeting with a banker to apply for these credit card offers as well. Let us know if you have success getting these offers and if you were able to do it by phone.
