A HOME decor expert has shared her secret to making faux plants look like the real deal.
She said it also saves money and labor for people who want their spaces to feel chic without spending tons of money.
In a recent TikTok video, Chelsee Hood (@thehouseofhoodblog) credited her clever tip to a cheap yet realistic looking item.
She said: “An Amazon decor must have if you have a sad bare faux tree like this one.”
The decorating pro started off with a potted fake plant that lacked filling for the inside of the pot.
Instead of using real soil or a large amount of faux filling, she got creative by reusing items she would normally toss away.
“I stuff this huge pot with boxes and Styrofoam, and then I grab this Spanish moss from Amazon,” she said.
She recommended viewers recreate her hack with FloraCraft Spanish Moss, as the package is an affordable $5.74 and looks realistic.
According to reviews, the wood fiber material also makes it highly durable and easy to manipulate for a variety of home projects.
Hood continued: “Layer on your Spanish moss on top of all the random things you shoved inside this pot.”

She could be seen placing the moss on top of broken down Amazon boxes and around the faux tree’s stem.
She also vacuumed around the pot to pick up any loose pieces that fell on the floor.
The final result looked identical to how a real tree would but with just a fraction of the work normally required to fill a large pot.
In the comments, she revealed that the large eucalyptus tree ($84.99) was also an Amazon steal.
“It’s less than $100 and last I checked it was 10% off!” she wrote.
And though she said the pot was very heavy, the benefits of the cheap moss outweighed the downsides of her final result.
Commenters were reassured that the moss’s scent and dust collecting were nothing to worry about.
She responded: “It doesn’t smell at all! It shows no dust. I have them on several pots, and they collect zero dust.”
