Banana Republic is stepping further into the home products segment with the debut of its BR Home Collection.

The new assortment includes furniture for the bedroom, living room, and dining room along with selections of lighting and home decor. The new home furnishings following the launch earlier this year of the retailer’s home textiles assortment.

“At Banana Republic, we are driven by a desire for discovery and self-expression, representing a new way to outfit yourself and your home,” said Sandra Stangl, Banana Republic president and CEO. “We are committed to bringing exceptional quality, timeless design, and versatile styling to our customers as we determine how to best support their lifestyle.”

The BR Home collection features three key expressions representing individual design aesthetics that can holistically coexist together for modern living.

  • Textured Modern invites the blend of the classic and contemporary, featuring clean lines, smooth finishes, mixed materials and minimalist aesthetics for an elevated look.
  • Classic Chic combines traditional forms with signature shapes and finishes that echo the past in contemporary light to give spaces a sophisticated and harmonious feel.
  • Explore is rooted in global influences that capture the essence of global artisanal craftsmanship and embroideries. Inspired by natural materials and organic elements, this line features earth tones and natural finishes for a grounded type setting.

“Whether traditional global handicraft, American heritage production, or small companies working in this era of maker culture, product craftsmanship is a Banana Republic legacy,” said Aaron Rose, chief commerce and experience officer for Banana Republic. “This dynamic collection celebrates the beauty of high-quality natural materials and skilled artisans, creatives, and those designers whose work reflects our brand values and allows us to support craftsmanship communities around the world.”

The BR Home collection is launching with four collections:

  • Stinson Collection: Each piece of upholstery is bench-made by master craftsmen in North Carolina and Virginia, and each frame is made with sustainably sourced hardwoods built to last. The hardwood-framed sofa features exaggerated armrests that offer durability, visual impact, and comfort, elevating its aesthetic appeal. It is a captivating and versatile addition to any living space, combining style and functionality. The Stinson sofa is custom-made and available in several configurations.
  • Marquis and Savannah Collections: These unique, contemporary, and modern dining collections were developed from the brand’s experimentation with European oak and the creation of depth and movement from textures and patterns in the grain. The use of large pieces of solid oak with simple organic shapes allows for an emotional attachment to nature and the primordial. The timber that is sourced for these pieces is part of the fabric of rural communities and sequesters huge amounts of carbon.
  • Atlas Moroccan Rugs Collection: Hand-knotted with the finest wool by different artisans in the Middle Atlas Mountains of Morocco, they create patterns for the modern home inspired by designs that are centuries old.
  • Phoenix Collection: Born from several collaborations with woodcarvers on the island of Java, Indonesia, these pieces combine finely hand-carved Java teak and mahogany door surfaces with simple and clean furniture shapes. The collection comes in two variations: stripe and organic diamond.
  • Nova Collection: Featuring hand-rolled, handmade clay beading, these emotional and distinctive chandeliers carry the fingerprints of the women making them. This striking collection is bound to be a beautiful focal point in any home.

The BR Home collection debuts with a dedicated website at www.brhome.com and will be in select U.S. stores by the end of September, including two new BR Home pop-up experiences in New York City and Los Angeles. Prices vary across the collection from $150 for vases to $195 for washed cotton sheet sets and $1,250 to $3,450 for dining furniture and sofas ranging from $2,650 to $4,950.

Drift Home Collection began as an online venture in 2017, specializing in handmade Moroccan rugs and other home decor items; now it’s opening a brick-and-mortar location in New Braunfels slated for September.

The shop will be located at 173 E. San Antonio St. and called Drift Home & Interiors.

Owner and curator Nataliya Borener, who is an interior designer by trade, wanted to combine her home collection shop with her namesake business Nataliya Borener’s Interiors.

Borener got the idea after traveling to Morocco in 2016.

Drift Home & Interiors will have a variety of handmade, high-quality home decor items including lighting, rugs, blankets, pillows, ceramics. The shop will also have a small assortment of handmade jewelry, ceramics and more.

“Each thing in my shop is special because it’s going to be something that was made by human hands and has a story,” Borener said.

The shop will also offer full-service interior design services.

Borener emphasized that great design is “purposeful, intentional and meaningful.”

“Your home should be a reflection of things you truly love and connect with,” Borener said.

Apache is functioning normally

We do our fair share of running around our cities exploring, perusing, eating, shopping and drinking. We call it “work,” but really, it’s what our life goals are made of! It’s an especially good day when we stumble upon something so good, we name it the best. We discovered this sweet shop over a year ago and have been loyal to it since. Every couple of months we pop in to see what newly curated treasures adorn the shelves and every time, every time, we fall in love with it all over again. Properly named and popularly adored, I Love Neighbor is the best decor store in Oakland and here’s why!

You’re strolling down Piedmont Ave on what’s likely a gorgeous day in Oakland. The East Bay is always good for sunshine! On any particular day, the City Across the Bay is at least 5 degrees warmer and the sky much sunnier than fog-ridden San Francisco. As you pass all of the usual suspects, some that have occupied the street for years – decades, even – Fenton’s Creamery, Lost and Found Antiques, Issues, you mosey past something new, fresh, young: I Love Neighbor. You go in duh! and your eyes become as big as saucers as they proceed to soak up every little nook and cranny of this gorgeously curated space.

Brass chandeliers made by local artists, glass and ceramic mobiles, vintage paintings and antique taxidermy all hang from the walls or soar from the tall, wood beam ceilings above you. Black and white Icelandic sheepskins, classic striped foutas, colorful Moroccan rugs and handmade textiles from artists in Brooklyn adorn a mid-century chair or spill over a dip-dyed ladder.

Locally made candles, cocktail syrups and shrubs, organic soaps and detergents peach oil laundry detergent. hello! line the chic shelves. Grey washed live-edge bowls, smoothly carved horn spoons, unique candlesticks, tiny leather coin pouches, brass scissors in every size and rope dog leashes all make the cut in their well-stocked cabinets.

And, the staff! Well, they’ll become your new best friends not only because they are so friendly, but they’ll also indulge you as you jabber about loving everrrrr-y-thing. They’ll likely tell you about the item in your hand and somehow convince you, in a way your best friend would, that you need it. The store is inviting, never stuffy or intimidating and there’s a backyard luring you in for “just a peek through the back door” yet it enticies you to sit down and stay a while – a neighborly Oakland mentality if we’ve ever seen one!

So if you’re in the neighborhood, stop by Neighbor. And if you’re not, do yourself a favor and be in the neighborhood! To all our buddies in San Francisco who rarely find themselves breaking out of their norm, I Love Neighbor is worth the quick drive over the bridge and we dare you, just dare you, to not fall in love!

Apache is functioning normally

The loft is currently undergoing a MAJ nesting overhaul. We’ve flipped floors around quite literally, our bedroom is now on the ground floor!, repainted, reorganized and sadly, had to get rid of our team Apartment 34 office in the process.

While the room was a great for an office space, now our bedroom occupies the only room in the loft with uncarpeted cement floors and things are feeling more than a little cold! And needing to get up a million times a night to care for a newborn eek!!, we need a solution to this situation asap! A rug is the answer – it instantly warms up a space, adding texture and dimension, but finding a well made, timeless option isn’t always so easy. So we’re on an intense hunt for the perfect rug!

But what to do? We could go graphic with a bold print. Or be uber “now” and go Moroccan. I love the way some rugs instantly bring color or pattern to play into the space! I’m slowly turning the corner on the idea of injecting color into the loft, but per usual I’m leaning towards something in a neutral color palette at the moment. The great thing about a neutral rug is that it could quite literally more from one room to the next. From the bedroom to the living room, play room or dining room, investing in something that can be a utility player around the house and in my case, from one house to the next! is so important. I’m really loving the options that Loloi Rugs has to offer. The sophisticated prints will stand the test of trending times and they have quite the selection from tribal to contemporary!

Now, just to pick one! Which rug do you vote? I’m leaning towards #5. I’d love something really graphic with a hint of black, but they’re all so gorgeous it makes it hard to decide. I would so appreciate your help on this one. I can’t wait to get something soft over that concrete.

Our feet thank you for your advice in advance!
