His most recent book, “Life to the Extreme” details his initial struggle with, and story on how he overcame, the challenges of living with ADHD.

Is it worth it to start a blog in 2024? Is it profitable to have a blog?
If you’re thinking about starting a blog, then I think it’s a great time.
Whether you want to start a blog or create a social media account and make money on there (such as TikTok), a blog of your own is something that I always recommend. This is because you own your blog and you are in control!
Perhaps you’ve been thinking about starting a blog for some time, but you’re afraid that you have waited too long.
Every year I get the same questions from people who are thinking about starting a blog but are worried that it’s too late.
I also have friends who have started blogs in the past year or two and were told the same thing.
I still remember the early days from when I first started my blog.
I was so clueless when I first started my blog. And, it seemed like a very random thing when I first heard about blogging, but I decided to go ahead and create a blog of my own.
Making Sense of Cents was started simply as a way to keep track of my own personal finance journey. Most people in my life didn’t even know I had a blog.
It’s so funny to think back to when I first started my blog, but I’m so glad I gave blogging a chance. I can’t imagine how different my life would be if I had listened to the people who said it was too late to start a blog.
Because of how blogging changed my life, I love telling others about it. That’s exactly what I’m doing today if you are on the fence about starting a blog.
Blogging helped me pay off my debt, quit my regular job, travel full-time, and more. The best part is that I love what I do. And, as you can tell from my business income reports, I now earn a great living from my blog.

Is it worth it to start a blog in 2024?
1. Yes, you can still start a blog
2024 is not too late to start a blog, but you will want to get started! I hear from so many bloggers who have delayed launching their blogs because they are afraid.
Well, you won’t know how blogging will go for you unless you start a blog.
Yes, blogging has changed over the years, but it is constantly changing and always will be. You will have to do things differently than when I first started blogging, but that’s normal with any online business, job, and so on.

2. There is space for new bloggers
I often hear, “But there’s so many blogs out there now.” Yes, there are many blogs, but there is still space. It’s all about finding your own voice and attracting your own audience.
I am still finding brand new blogs that I love, and it’s exciting watching them grow.
Everyone is different, and everyone has their own point of view.
Of course, just like with any time, you will have to find ways to make your story stand out, grow your audience, and more. But, that is completely normal.
Plus, there are so many social media platforms that you can grow on as well, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and more.
3. Blogs can make money in 2024 (and into the future)
Companies and brands are still putting money toward investing in blogs and social media accounts.
Companies are increasing their marketing budgets, specifically to grow their market and audience through blogs.
And, that’s where you and I come in!
Before, companies usually would advertise and promote their products through celebrities, TV shows, movies and more. However, these days, so many people are buying products from things that they see from their favorite bloggers and social media accounts, and companies are definitely noticing this and are putting more of their marketing budget toward it.

4. Starting a blog can be quite enjoyable
Okay, so not everyone will love having a blog. That is completely normal! After all, not everyone likes every single job out there either.
But, for me, I absolutely love blogging. And, I know many others who do as well.
I enjoy helping others improve their financial situation, reading blog posts from other bloggers, finding new people to talk to, working on my blog, and especially writing.
I love waking up each morning to work, and I no longer dread work like I did when I had my day job.
Blogging is both challenging and rewarding, as there is always something new to learn. And, it’s a lot of fun to reach and connect with new people through your blog.

In this free course, I show you how to create a blog, from the technical side to earning your first income and attracting readers.
5. You can start a blog for cheap
A blog is very affordable to create.
I spent less than $100 total for the whole first year of Making Sense of Cents.
If you are interested in taking the steps to learn how to create a blog, I have a tutorial that will help you create a blog of your own for cheap, starting at only $2.75 per month for blog hosting (this low price is only through my link). In addition to the low pricing, you will receive a free website domain (a $15 value) through my referral link if you purchase at least 12 months of blog hosting.
This means you can learn how to start a blog in 2024 and make money for less than $50 a year.
I started my blog with super cheap blog hosting, and I designed it myself (even though I had no experience ever doing something like that).
I did pretty much everything myself so that I could save money, and while it was a learning experience, it was well worth it.
This is great because you can start a blog, test it out, and not spend a lot of money.
6. You are in control
Do you want a flexible schedule? What about controlling how you make an income? Want to work from home?
By starting a blog, these are all things that you can be in control of. You get to be the decision-maker when it comes to deciding on what type of business you’ll run, your schedule, your goals, the topic you write about, and more.
I love being in complete control of what I do, and becoming self-employed may allow you to feel that way as well. I enjoy deciding what I will do each day, creating my own schedule, determining my business goals, handling everything behind the scenes, and more.
7. You don’t need to be a tech wizard to start a blog
I get asked this all the time, “Do I need to be good at social media or know how to code in order to start a blog?”
No!
You definitely do not.
In order to become a blogger in 2024, you don’t need previous experience. You don’t need to have a computer degree (I don’t think I know any bloggers who do, haha), previously be active on social media, or know how to design a website.
These are all things that you will learn as you go, or you may even hire some tasks out.
Nearly every single blogger was brand new at some point, and they had no idea what they were doing.
I’m proof of that. I had just learned that blogs existed when I started Making Sense of Cents, and I definitely didn’t know that bloggers could make money. I learned how to create a blog from the bottom up and have worked my way to where I am today.
Now, that doesn’t mean that blogging is easy. It will require hard work and the beginning can be tough. But it is something that you can learn.
8. You can still learn how to start a blog

Is it still profitable to start a blog? Is it worth it to start a blog and make money?
Yes, blogs can still make money in 2024. I think starting a blog can definitely be worth it and valuable. You can turn your hobbies, expertise, and/or creativity to start a profitable blog. And, even if you don’t have strong writing skills, that is something that you can learn as you go.
Luckily, you don’t need much to start a blog either. An internet connection, computer, and a domain name are the best ways to start!
If blogging is so wonderful, then why doesn’t everyone start one?
Not everyone starts a blog because it isn’t for everyone.
That would be like saying that becoming a zoologist or an astronaut is for everyone.
Everyone has different skills, different passions, and more.
So, not everyone will want to be a blogger. That is completely fine.
Learning how to earn money blogging is work, and just like with all jobs – not everyone wants what you want.
And, for every successful blog out there, there are probably hundreds of bloggers who will never earn money blogging. While you can earn money blogging, not all bloggers will.
It would be like saying that 100% of people who start a business will see success. That is just never going to happen – businesses fail, business owners have a change of heart, and others just don’t find it enjoyable.
I know I am always talking about the positives of blogging, but I also like to mention how it’s not the easiest.
After all, if blogging was easy, then everyone would do it and everyone would make thousands of dollars a month.
But as you know, that’s not the case.
Not everyone is going to earn money blogging because it can be a lot of work! Most new bloggers quit just a few months in. A few months is not enough time to see if your blog will be successful. It took me six months before I started to earn money blogging, and I only earned $100.
It’s funny and weird to think about what life would be like if I would have quit back then.
I’m constantly learning something new when it comes to blogging, and that is why I enjoy it so much.
If you are interested in starting a blog, I do recommend giving it a shot.

Whether you need to finish last-minute work tasks before a vacation or connect with loved ones after being away, you might be needing an in-flight Wi-Fi signal. However, if you’re flying Hawaiian Airlines to or from the Aloha State, you might be in for a surprise.
Here’s what you need to know about Hawaiian Airlines Wi-Fi and the airlines that offer coverage over the Pacific Ocean.
Does Hawaiian Airlines have Wi-Fi?
Unfortunately, Hawaiian Airlines planes aren’t equipped with Wi-Fi yet, and that includes transpacific and inter-island flights.
However, the carrier has struck a deal with Starlink to provide broadband wireless internet to flyers in the future.
Hawaiian Airlines is planning to equip its Airbus A330, Airbus A321 neo and Boeing 787-9 aircraft with complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi run on a satellite network. Hawaiian Airlines internet service will be available on flights between the islands as well as long-distance flights to the mainland U.S., Asia and Oceania.
“When we launch with Starlink we will have the best connectivity experience available in the air,” Hawaiian Airlines CEO Peter Ingram said in 2022. “We waited until technology caught up with our high standards for guest experience, but it will be worth the wait. Our guests can look forward to fast, seamless and free Wi-Fi to complement our award-winning onboard Hawaiian hospitality.”
At this point, it’s unclear exactly when Starlink internet will be available aboard Hawaiian Airlines planes, but it’s supposed to happen sometime this year. Having said that, in-flight entertainment is available for passengers to stream on their personal device through a self-contained in-flight network.
How to stream in-flight entertainment from a personal device
Even though there’s no Hawaiian Airlines Wi-Fi, you still can stream in-flight entertainment to your personal device in two ways: a mobile app or an internet browser. You can watch new and classic films as well as TV shows on your phone, tablet or laptop.
Hawaiian Airlines app
Download the Hawaiian Airlines app to your mobile phone or tablet.
Once aboard, switch your phone to airplane mode and connect to the “Movies on HawaiianAir” network.
Open the Hawaiian Airlines app, select “More” and then “In-flight entertainment.”
Internet browser
Connect to the “Movies on Hawaiian” network.
Open your internet browser and type “www.hawaiianairlineswifi.com.”
Choose an option and watch.
Which airlines provide Wi-Fi on flights to Hawaii?
The islands of Hawaii are located about 2,400 miles from the mainland U.S., so it’s no wonder that the signal over the Pacific Ocean isn’t that strong.
Below are some of the airlines that offer Wi-Fi on flights to Hawaii. Still, when in doubt about investing in a Wi-Fi pass, ask a flight attendant whether the internet signal is reliable.
American Airlines
American Airlines offers satellite-based Wi-Fi on most aircraft in its fleet, meaning you might have luck getting coverage on your flight to the Aloha State. An in-flight Wi-Fi pass starts at $10 and goes up from there.
To check whether your specific flight offers Wi-Fi, you can check its status by entering the flight number and date of travel on this page.
Delta Air Lines
Delta Air Lines and T-Mobile have been rolling out free in-flight Wi-Fi to SkyMiles members, which is available on about 600 domestic aircraft as of last July.
Full availability on the global fleet is expected by the end of 2024. A pass costs $5 to $19 on aircraft that aren’t yet equipped with free Wi-Fi.
United Airlines
United Airlines has four in-flight internet providers: Gogo, Panasonic, Thales and Viasat. Aircraft equipped with Panasonic Wi-Fi provides the most coverage, which includes areas over the Pacific Ocean.
The following aircraft are equipped with Panasonic Wi-Fi:

United Wi-Fi on domestic flights costs $8 or 800 miles for MileagePlus members and $10 for passengers who aren’t enrolled in its frequent flyer program.
Hawaiian Airlines Wi-Fi recapped
Although Hawaiian Airlines will be launching Starlink wireless service on its aircraft, it’s not available to passengers at the moment.
The only option you have for now is to connect to an in-flight entertainment network and stream content from your personal device. If you want to watch something else, we recommend downloading episodes of your favorite show to watch on the plane.

Starring Eddie Murphy, Tracee Ellis Ross, Jillian Bell, Nick Offerman, and many more recognizable faces along the way, Candy Cane Lane tells the story of the Carver family, as they compete in a yearly holiday house decorating contest to win one hundred thousand dollars.
After losing his job just a few days before Christmas, Chris (Murphy) puts job hunting on the back burner in service of creating a festive masterpiece on his front lawn.
And yes, in case you’re wondering, we felt those Deck The Halls vibes too!
Enlisting the help of his youngest child Holly (sibling of Joy and Nick… get it?), he stumbles across Kringles, a magical Christmas shop where Pepper the elf sells him a ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’, Christmas tree.
When it and the ornaments from each of the twelve days unexpectedly come to life and flee the tree on the night of the competition, Chris and his family must find the five golden rings in time or Pepper, who it turns out was exiled from Santa’s workshop, will turn him into a singing ceramic Christmas ornament.
Is it a classic Christmas tale? Not exactly. Is it a little offbeat? Sure.
But did we have fun with the movie and love seeing all of the houses alight and twinkling ahead of the big day? You bet we did!
Now, we know you’re wondering if Candy Cane Lane is a real place, whether you can visit, and if they actually shut down a whole street to film the movie there.
Well, you can have yourself a merry little Christmas because we’ve done the research for you and can answer all of these questions and more – happy holidays!
Is Candy Cane Lane a real place?
Yes, Candy Cane Lane is a very real place located on East Acacia Avenue in El Segundo, California. Every year since 1949, with an understandable one-year hiatus in 2020, the street comes alive in a spectacle of Christmas lights and festive displays made by the residents.
With nightly shows from December 9th – 23rd, and visits every other evening from Santa himself, it’s a sight to behold and definitely one for the bucket list!
Unlike in the movie, there is no competition between neighbors.
Instead, the displays serve to bring the residents and the community together in celebration of the season.
Did they film Candy Cane Lane on the actual Candy Cane Lane?
Whilst it might look just like the real thing, scenes outside the Carver house were actually all shot on a stage.
Where? None other than Colonial Street at Universal Studios Hollywood.
Setting the backdrop for many of our favorite films and television series over the years, if you’re thinking it looks familiar it probably does!
Other productions filmed on Universal Studio’s Colonial Street
Arguably the most recognizable show shot here was Desperate Housewives.
Since the street was as much a character as the residents themselves, we wouldn’t be surprised if some eagle-eyes fans spotted Wisteria Lane the moment they pressed play on Candy Cane Lane.
Other productions include, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Malcolm In The Middle, Leave it to Beaver, Why Him, and Sabrina The Teenage Witch – and that really is just naming a few!
More filming locations from Candy Cane Lane
With no snow to build snowmen or go sledding in, children at the start of the movie can be seen sand surfing and building sandmen instead.
According to Atlas Of Wonders, these scenes were filmed in California on Playa Del Rey Beach. Meanwhile, exteriors from the high school were shot in El Segundo itself.
Other movies that feature Candy Cane Lane
Since we’re guessing you love holiday movies (and movie houses!) just as much as we do, you’ve probably come across Candy Cane Lane in TV shows and films before this one.
Most recently, we saw Candy Cane Lane in the holiday movie The Happiest Season, starring Kristen Stewart and Mackenzie Davis.
However, this Candy Cane Lane was based on a different, yet equally amazing display in Duboistown, Pennsylvania, and scenes were filmed on Cleveland Avenue in Avalon.
Read all about that and the other dreamy filming locations and houses we tracked down from the movie right here:
Meanwhile, New Girl fans will remember an episode called The 23rd in season one, where the gang drives to Candy Cane Lane at 4 am and proceeds to scream and shout for the residents to turn on their lights.
According to the New Girl podcast, Welcome To Our Show on which the show’s stars, Zooey Deschanel, Hannah Simone, and Lamorne Morris re-watch and give behind-the-scenes info about each episode, this Candy Cane Lane was shot on the Disney ranch.
Why? Like most holiday movies and shows, the episode was not actually shot at Christmas.
The takeaway? Even if you can’t take a trip to Candy Cane Lane this year, there are plenty of festive movies and TV shows that can transport you there from the comfort of your very own home – Merry Christmas everyone!

As a Homes writer and interior design obsessive, I love nothing more than spending my downtime decorating or sprucing up our family home. And whether you live in a cozy apartment or palatial house, we all want to create our ideal abode. Trouble is, when you don’t know where to start, it all can all seem rather overwhelming.
While pulling a room together may seem easy on Instagram or social media, there are some basic rules and tips I’ve learned over the years. These top tips will help you achieve the right balance of functionality yet still look stylish. What’s more, these clever design ideas will instantly transform your space, regardless of size, without having to spend a fortune on an expensive renovation!
I’m obsessed with home makeover shows — and these are the 3 mistakes people always make.
1. Go big with mirrors
One of my favorite tricks is the power of mirrors. I absolutely love using mirrors in my home, and the bigger the better. Mirrors are a great way to reflect the natural light across the room, make a small room look bigger, and feel airy and more open. For effective results, lean a large mirror against a wall opposite a window so the light will bounce off it. In small spaces, opt for mirrors that go from floor to ceiling to maximise the light.
In addition, if you want to brighten a dark room, a mirrored wall will also do the trick. Wall-mounted mirrors work well to reflect light, give the illusion of a bigger space, and instantly make your room feel open and airy. More importantly, it will give your blank wall a stylish and contemporary makeover.
While glass can often be problematic if you have children and pets running around, you can choose plexiglass acrylic mirror. Bendable acrylic wall mirrors much like this Shatterproof Wall Mirror ($29, Amazon), are designed to be safer and won’t get accidentally broken or damaged.
Alternatively, if you don’t have a mirror, any reflective surface such as stainless steel, glass and metallic accessories will do the job.
2. Buy the right-sized furniture for the space
Have you ever bought something for your home, only to find out that it’s way too big (or small) for the room? That’s why it’s important to always check the dimensions of furniture before buying, and find a style that’s in proportion to the room. So if your space is too compact for a conventional, rectangular dining table, a circular table will take up less room.
Getting the proportion right can be tricky if you’re buying furniture/decor online, and the reality is far different from the pictures! You may find it helpful to use an AR app such as IKEA Place to get a better idea of how an item of furniture will fit into the space you have.
Another top tip is to elevate your furniture. Instead of heavy-set pieces of furniture, and cumbersome sofas — especially in compact rooms, choose sofas and armchairs with narrow arms, and raised on taller legs. The trick here is when you see more floor underneath, it will give the illusion of a bigger room, and allow natural light to flow better.
In fact, buying the wrong-sized furniture is one of the top decor mistakes that are making your home look smaller than it is.
3. Make use of vertical space
Furniture doesn’t always have to be spread out. Another top tip is to utilize vertical space — especially if you lack floor space or have a compact room. Depending on how strong your walls are, you can easily wall mount floating wall shelves, vertical cabinets, or clever storage units to free up valuable floor space.
For home offices, hanging smaller things on wall-mounted rails can be handy, as you’ll have more desk space making it less cluttered. And for small bathrooms, wall-mounted storage is one of the things organized people keep in their bathrooms. Just don’t forget to check what’s behind the wall before you start drilling holes everywhere!
There are also plenty of stackable storage ideas to keep everything in order. For instance, if you want to keep children’s toys tidy, storage organizers like this Humble Crew Extra-Large Toy Organizer ($79, Amazon), will save you valuable space.
4. Layer your fabrics
There’s nothing better than coming back to a warm and relaxing home to snuggle in. And layering up with chunky throws, soft blankets and plush cushions on sofas and beds work well to achieve that cozy factor.
In addition, it’s good to mix-and-match the textures and color scheme so that everything doesn’t look the same. You want to create an inviting feeling that is also aesthetically pleasing.
Interestingly, soft furnishings are one of the clever ways to reduce noise in your home. Plush furniture like an upholstered sofa, bench or even plump cushions work well to ‘soften’ an area — diffusing unwanted sounds. Thick rugs on hardwood floors can also help to block out some noise, and also prevents furniture from making much noise when it’s moved around. So it’s a win-win!
5. Conceal the clutter
When designing a space, we often forget about functionality, and practical storage solutions. To avoid cluttered spaces, conceal the clutter with multi-purpose furniture such as ottoman benches, blanket boxes or woven baskets. These are clever ways of hiding clutter, as well as doubling up as extra seating or a handy footstool for your guests. Plus, if you have cluttered shoes piling up by the front door, here’s 7 space-saving ways to organize shoes in your entryway.
In addition, if you have unsightly cables or items lying around, there are plenty of creative ways to disguise ugly items in your home. These include things like cable management organizers or sleeves, soap dispensers, or attractive tissue box covers.
And if you have one of the best TVs for family entertainment, cozy movie nights or a decent gaming session, check out these clever ways to decorate around a TV.
6. Don’t overcrowd your walls
Whether it’s family photographs, abstract wall art, or stylish posters, pictures on the walls can add a personal touch. However, there is a danger of going overboard with the gallery wall — making your walls look like an eyesore.
When learning ways to decorate a blank wall, it’s advisable to stick to the ‘odd number rule’ when displaying pictures. So rather than hanging in even numbers, stick to three or five on one wall, or even one large frame. This rule is considered to be more visually appealing, and looks less cluttered. If you want to hang two pictures side by side however, make sure the frames are identical, and hung at the same height. Although this should really be 57 inches, generally, pictures should be hung at eye-level.
Secondly, if you just want to hang one large wall art, position it so that the center of the artwork is approximately 48-56 inches from the floor. However, if it’s positioned above a sofa or table, the bottom of the frame should begin at least 6-12 inches above the back of the sofa or tabletop.
7. Don’t go overboard with trends
If you follow decor trends on social media or TV shows, it can be easy to get carried away with buying things on impulse. By definition, trends come and go, and just because everyone is doing wood panelling, doesn’t mean it will look good in your home!
Define your personal style, and keep your interior scheme simple and classy. After all, less is more! It’s always best to stick to neutral styles, tones or accessories, and incorporate bursts of bold color in soft furnishings, accessories or even lush houseplants. This way, you can change it up whenever you feel like it, or style your home according to the changing seasons.
What’s more, splurging on the latest trends and new furnishings just for the sake of it can make your home look cheap, according to interior designers.

Do you want to learn how to make money with a drone?
Drones have become more and more popular recently. People use them not just for fun but also for jobs that need pictures and videos from up high. This means there’s a growing opportunity for people to start small businesses to make money with their drones.
I have had a drone for several years now, and it is so great to be able to take pictures from a different perspective with it. We’ve also used our drone for many purposes – such as inspecting a roof, looking at the top of our mast on our boat (at 68 feet tall, it’s nice to have a drone to check things!), for family pictures, and more.
Whether you fly drones for fun or as a pro, earning money with them can be straightforward. If you have the right knowledge and tools, you can make your hobby pay off and make income.
Below, I will be talking about how to make money with a drone, how to get started, the best drone to make money with, and more.
How To Make Money With A Drone
What is a drone?
A drone, also called an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), is a flying machine operated from a distance by a pilot (like you or me) with a remote control (such as your cell phone). Whereas before, helicopters were needed for pictures from high up in the air, drones have made it much easier for the average person to take photos and videos.
Drones are used for many things, like taking amazing pictures from the sky, delivering packages, and inspecting the top of buildings that are high off the ground.
Some popular drone brands like DJI have really good cameras and special features that make them easy to use too.
How much money can you make flying drones?
How much you can earn as a drone pilot depends on how much experience you have, what kind of services you sell, and how much demand there is for those services where you live.
According to Glassdoor, a drone pilot can make around $65,000 a year, with some making well over $100,000 each year.

13 Ways To Make Money With A Drone
Below are 13 ways to make money with a drone. Whether you want to learn how to make money with drone videos or drone pictures, there are many ideas that you could try.
1. Stock photos
One great way to get started making money with your drone is by selling your drone photos on stock photo sites.
You can make passive income with a drone by taking aerial photos (such as of cities, the outdoors, and so much more) and selling them on stock photo websites such as Shutterstock, Getty Images, and DepositPhotos.
Customers buy stock photos for many different uses, such as on websites, in TV shows, in books, on social media, and in other places.
I buy stock photos all the time for my website and so do millions of other people. They are so nice and helpful to have!
You simply take drone photos, upload them onto a stock photo website (making sure to add relevant keywords), and then the stock photo site does the rest of the work to sell them to customers.
2. Real estate photos
As a drone pilot, you can sell real estate photography services to real estate agents which helps them show the properties that they are trying to sell.
By taking a picture of the property from different angles and heights, real estate agents can show a different view of the real estate that traditional photography can’t provide.
By selling property photography services with your drone, you’re selling a helpful service to real estate companies looking to stand out in a competitive housing market.
More and more homes are being sold with drone photos, and it makes sense – it can really show how great the surrounding area is around a home! Plus, a possible home buyer can see the whole home and property with a drone picture to get a better idea of what the home includes.
3. Building inspection services
Building and roof inspection services are always in high demand, as homeowners and building owners need to look for possible damages or maintenance issues.
Drone operators can inspect roofs and tall buildings safely and quickly with a drone. I personally know a few roof and building inspectors who regularly use drones to help them with their work. Instead of spending a ton of time climbing onto a roof (or going on one that may be dangerous to begin with), they can simply turn on their drone and take pictures in order to get a better idea of what is going on.
After all, drones can go where humans can’t, or at least where it’s risky, time-consuming, or expensive for humans to go.
This is what makes a drone so helpful when it comes to inspecting a building. Drones are so easy to use, and they can take a picture of a hard-to-reach location in just minutes.
Drones are used by others for inspection purposes as well, such as to inspect solar panels by solar installation companies, inspect bridges and wind turbines, as well as inspecting farmlands. A service related to this is that many times utility companies will use drones to inspect their power lines too!
4. Aerial photography and videography
Aerial photography and videography are popular for many different events, such as sports and concerts.
Sporting events and concerts typically pay for drone photos because it helps give them more images of the full picture of the event they are hosting as well as a different perspective. This can help them to sell more tickets in the future and gain more publicity.
5. Instagram
I follow quite a few Instagram accounts that mainly post amazing drone photos from around the world. These content creators are able to make money by building a following and partnering with companies for advertising.
6. YouTube videos
Starting a YouTube channel that shares your drone footage can also earn you income. As you gain subscribers and views, you can earn advertising income and sponsorship deals or paid collaborations.
On your YouTube channel, you may publish videos that include drone videos such as from your travels. Or, you may be teaching others how to use their drone. There are many different avenues you could try.

7. Aerial mapping and surveying
Drones can be used for mapping and surveying tasks, such as creating topographic maps, assessing land for development, and for agricultural inspections.
This is because with a drone you can map out large areas extremely quickly.
I did a quick Google search for the job “aerial mapping drone pilot” and found a lot of different openings too!
8. Drone delivery services
Drone delivery services are a pretty new market, with companies such as Amazon starting to use drones for package delivery.
Sounds pretty crazy, but it is a real thing!
While regulations are still constantly changing, drone delivery services may have some big openings for drone pilots who want to be some of the first.
9. Filmmaking
Drones have completely changed the filmmaking industry by allowing for unique camera angles and movements that were once impossible to achieve (or could only be done before with a helicopter).
Drone pilots can sell services in filmmaking and work on movie sets, TV commercials, and music videos.
10. Hotel photos and ads
Drone photos of hotels and Airbnbs can help to sell more rooms better because customers can see the surrounding area and what the whole building looks like.
This may help a person to see that there is a beach or a mountain nearby, or perhaps that it is close to the center of a city.
11. Wedding photography
More and more couples are wanting drone photography of their wedding. You can sell wedding photography services with your drone, which allows couples to capture their wedding day from different angles.
This could be an add-on if you are already a wedding photographer, or perhaps you can reach out to wedding photographers in your area and sell your services to them as an add-on.
12. Freelance jobs
Drone photographers can use freelance platforms such as Upwork, Fiverr, Droners.io, and PrecisionHawk to sell drone services to clients. By promoting your drone photography portfolio on these sites through creating a profile, you can find freelance jobs and make money.
I did a quick search and you can see examples of drone photographers selling their services on Upwork here to get an idea.
13. Renting drones
If you own multiple drones, you can possibly start renting them out to other drone pilots or people who simply want to take some drone photos.
There are many ways you can rent out your drone, such as to recreational users who want to try out flying a drone, content creators, photographers, researchers, for search and rescue operations, disaster relief, and so many more.
Getting Started With A Drone Business
Starting a drone business can be a great way to make money, especially if you enjoy playing around with drones.
As you read above, drones have been so helpful in many different areas, from real estate to movies, farming, and more.
Starting a drone business is probably simpler than you would think too.
What drone should you buy?
If you want to learn how to make money with a drone, then getting the right drone is helpful. Before buying a drone, think about your budget, the drone’s flight time (how long the drone can fly in the air on a battery charge), your skill level, and the type of services you want to sell.
Some of the best drones to make money with include:
Do you need a license for a drone business?
Yes, if you plan to operate a drone for commercial purposes, you should have a Remote Pilot Certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). To get this certificate, you must:
Be at least 16 years old
Be able to read, speak, write, and understand English
Pass an aeronautical knowledge test
Be physically and mentally fit to operate a drone
Complete the FAA’s online application
Once you get your Remote Pilot Certificate, you are required to register your drone with the FAA and you will then get a unique identification number.
You can learn more about how to become a drone pilot on the FAA’s website here.
Do you need insurance to run a drone business?
Having insurance isn’t required by the law, but it’s a good idea to get it for your drone business.
Insurance helps protect you and your clients in case something goes wrong, such as if there is an accident or problems with the drone. Drones can be expensive, so insuring them can help to pay for them in case something happens (for example, you could crash them into a building or lose them in the water).
I have personally lost a drone in the water, and insurance gave me a new one right away, which was very nice.
How much does it cost to start a drone business?
The costs for starting a drone business include:
Drone – $300 to $10,000+
Laptop to edit your photos – $500 to $2,000+
Remote pilot certificate – $175
Drone insurance – $1,000 per year
Other expenses that you may have include a business license, advertising costs, office space, and more.
The amount that you spend to start your drone business will be higher or lower depending on your budget, what kind of drone business you plan on running, and more.
How To Improve Your Drone Skills And Training
Below is how you can become a better drone pilot and get good pictures and videos. Whether you’re a beginner or if you’ve been flying drones for years, the below can help you to improve your business.
Become a skilled pilot
To get really good at flying drones, you need to spend time learning and practicing. Flying a drone is not as simple as it looks – I know because I have had a drone for years, and I have a lot to learn yet. And, I still get nervous when flying it!
If you want to start a drone business, then I recommend taking a drone training course that will teach you everything from basics to advanced skills. There are a lot of features on a drone and it can be overwhelming to learn. A course can speed things up for you.
Also, practicing as much as you can is very helpful, which will help you get better at controlling it. Finding an open space can help you get more comfortable with flying it as well because you won’t be as worried about hitting something with your drone.
This will then help you with the next step – taking photos and videos with your drone.
Video and photography training
Once you’ve learned how to use your drone, the next step is to get better and better at taking pictures and videos with your drone.
You will want to learn as much as you can about your drone’s camera and the different settings that come with it. You should learn how to set up good shots, how to figure out what kind of lighting you need, how to frame pictures and videos, and more.
Here are some tips to improve your video and photography skills with your drone:
Take a course – Sign up for a photography or videography course to improve your knowledge of drone camera settings as well as framing and editing techniques. You can easily find a drone photography course online, such as on Udemy.
Practice regularly – The more you take videos and photographs with your drone, the better you will be.
Learn from others – I recommend joining online forums or drone pilot Facebook groups to talk with other drone photographers. This can help you to learn new tips that you may not have thought of.
If you get better at flying and taking good pictures or videos with your drone, you can start earning money. Of course, it will take time and lots of practice, though!

Learn more about JetBlue Wi-Fi, including how to connect, how much it costs and how it compares to other airlines.
Does JetBlue have Wi-Fi?
Yes, JetBlue has Wi-Fi — cheekily called Fly-Fi — on most of its flights, with service provided through Viasat.
However, the availability of Fly-Fi on JetBlue flights varies based on the type of plane and which route it is flying. Additionally, weather and other variables may affect your ability to log in and use the internet during your trip.

You can also connect as many devices to Wi-Fi as you’d like without extra charges.
JetBlue Fly-Fi cost vs. other airlines
While JetBlue customers get free Wi-Fi on unlimited devices, other airlines may charge fees for every device you connect. Here’s a quick summary of how much you’ll pay per device to connect to in-flight Wi-Fi on other airlines:

Delta Air Lines: Free, with a SkyMiles account.
Southwest Airlines: $8 per device; free for A-List Preferred members.
United Airlines: $10 for access on U.S. domestic and short-haul international flights. This cost is reduced to $8 for MileagePlus members, and all T-Mobile customers get free Wi-Fi on all flights. Costs for long-haul international flights vary based on destination.
How to connect to JetBlue Wi-Fi
Follow these simple steps to connect to JetBlue Wi-Fi:
Connect to the “Fly-Fi” Wi-Fi network.
If you’re not automatically redirected to the Fly-Fi page, open your browser and go to www.flyfi.com.
Follow the instructions and watch a short advertisement to connect.
What services does JetBlue offer on Fly-Fi?
Once you’re connected to Fly-Fi on your JetBlue flight, you can use many internet services, including:
Text messaging.
Internet browsing, including email.
Streaming movies or TV shows.
SiriusXM music and radio shows.

Want to learn how to make money on maternity leave?
Parental leave can be a time of joy and excitement with a new baby around, but it can also mean money stress for parents. While you spend time taking care of your newborn, you may also need to find ways to make extra money to pay for your expenses.
I had a baby not too long ago (she is currently 1.5 years old – time flies!), and being able to work while taking care of her has been a lifesaver. So, I understand why you’re reading this article – because I also had to work with a newborn.
The good news is that there are plenty of ways to make extra money while still being present for those early months with your new baby.
Why You May Need Extra Money On Maternity Leave
Many families have to take unpaid maternity leave, and others may find their leave is simply not long enough and want to extend it longer (many families in the U.S. get 3 months or even much less time).
Not only that, but maternity leave is an expensive time with medical bills coming in, the cost of baby essentials (diapers aren’t free!), and everyday living costs.
Also, there might be unexpected costs that weren’t part of your maternity leave budget. Perhaps your baby needs special formula or medication, or maybe your car broke down. These unplanned costs can put a dent in your finances, especially when your income may already be reduced during your maternity leave.
Or, you might also be looking to create a financial cushion for the future such as by saving for vacations or even starting a college fund for your baby. So, finding ways to make extra money during your maternity leave can be very helpful.

One great thing about stock photo sites is that they can be a great form of passive income. You can take pictures, upload them, and earn money from an older photo for months or even years in the future.

23. Book reviewer
Book reviewers read books and share what they think through paid reviews.
Yes, there are websites where you can receive payment (as well as a free book) for sharing your thoughts about books. Some companies that pay for book reviews are Online Book Club, Kirkus Reviews, and BookBrowse.

24. Flea market flipper
A flipper buys items from places such as garage sales, Facebook Marketplace, or thrift stores and resells them online for a profit.
You may be able to earn extra money by flipping items for resale or possibly earn a full-time income! You can even be able to make this a more flexible gig, such as only working during nap times.
A helpful free training that I recommend is Turn Your Passion For Visiting Thrift Stores, Yard Sales & Flea Markets Into A Profitable Reselling Business In As Little As 14 Days.
25. Rent out storage space
If you have unused space in your home, you can sell it as storage for rent to people in your local area. This can be a garage, driveway, closet, basement, or even an attic.

Personal finance
Traveling

And so much more!
You can sell a course in many different ways, such as through Udemy or Teachable.
27. Rent out your unused RV
Instead of letting your RV sit in your driveway unused, you can list it on RVshare and make some semi-passive income. My sister has rented a few RVs from this site, and she has had a great experience each time!
Renting out an RV can earn you anywhere from a couple hundred dollars to a couple thousand dollars each month.
How To Manage Your Money On Maternity Leave
Managing your money while on maternity leave can be tough at times. If you are looking for more things that you can do other than only learning how to make money on maternity leave, you do have some options.
Below, I will be talking about how to cut your budget so that you can save money, as well as your rights and benefits on maternity leave.
Cut your budget
During parental leave, cutting your budget can be a great way to manage your finances while adapting to life with a newborn.
Here are a few ideas to help reduce your expenses during this time:
Evaluate your current spending habits to determine where you can make adjustments – This might involve tracking your spending for a month or looking back at bank statements. You’ll likely find areas where you can save, such as dining out, entertainment, or shopping.
Cut back on subscriptions and memberships – Assess each subscription and determine the must-haves and those you can temporarily suspend or cancel.
Batch cook freezer meals before the baby comes – This is where you make a bunch of meals before the baby is born and freeze them. This can give you an easy meal to pop in the oven before the baby comes.
Cook at home – Getting food delivered can be convenient, but it’s usually more expensive than making your meals at home. Plus, cooking allows you to control ingredients and portion sizes.
Buy in bulk – When possible, get the items you use most frequently in bulk. Items like diapers, baby wipes, and nonperishable foods have a longer shelf life, and buying them in larger quantities can offer considerable savings.
Get secondhand and borrowed items – Instead of buying new baby gear and clothing, try borrowing from friends or family, or shopping at thrift stores like Once Upon A Child. Babies grow quickly, and they often outgrow items before they wear out.
Negotiate medical costs – If you have medical bills, you can try to negotiate them. Medical providers may be open to setting up payment plans or giving discounts for paying up front.
Short-term disability insurance
You may want to look into short-term disability insurance options before your maternity leave starts to help cover lost wages during your time off.
In some cases, your employer may provide this benefit, or you can purchase a policy separately. These policies typically cover around 60% to 80% of your regular income and may have a waiting period before benefits start (so, you will need to have the policy before you get pregnant).
Government assistance programs
There are government assistance programs that could help you during your maternity leave. For example, the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) has nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and healthy food benefits for eligible families.
You can also check to see if you qualify for financial assistance from your state or other programs related to maternity and family support.
Find charities for help
During maternity leave, managing money might be tricky, but there are places that can help, like charities and groups that want to support new parents. You can find them online or at local community centers. Libraries, online parent groups, and special organizations are also great places to get help.
Remember, asking for help is a strong and smart thing to do, and there are lots of resources out there to help parents during this special time.
I recommend reading:
Know your state and federal law rights
I recommend learning about relevant state and federal laws governing maternity and family leave. The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) allows eligible employees to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave for the birth or adoption of a child. The law also says that you cannot be replaced or overlooked for pay raises and other promotions during your leave.
However, paid maternity leave policies differ by state and company. Some employers may offer a certain amount of paid leave, while others may offer none. Make sure to review your state’s laws and your employer’s policies to understand your rights during your maternity leave.
By knowing your rights, insurance options, and the benefits available to you, you can better plan your financial strategy during your maternity leave.

This depends on why you are no longer working at your job. If you simply stopped working because of your pregnancy, then you may not be able to receive unemployment pay.
However, if you are pregnant or recently had a baby and were fired or laid off, then you may qualify for unemployment pay.
What are some ways to make money while on maternity leave? How can I make money while taking care of my baby?
There are many ways to make money while on parental leave, such as by working online, selling photography, renting out storage space or an RV, and more.
How can new mothers use their time efficiently while working from home?
Time management is important for new moms working from home. I recommend creating a routine, setting realistic goals (if you are working and watching your baby, it won’t always go perfectly), and designating work hours during the baby’s nap time to help manage work alongside childcare responsibilities. It’s also important to take regular breaks to avoid burnout and feeling stressed. Working while also taking care of a child can be very tiring.
How to Make Money on Maternity Leave – Summary
Federal law, specifically the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), does not require employers to give paid maternity leave. Eligible employees are allowed to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave, and because of this, you might be worried about money during your maternity leave or feel like you can’t afford to take the full 12 weeks.
There are many ways to make money while on maternity leave, which may help you to pay your bills without sacrificing quality time with your new baby.
For example, you can sell handmade items or even sell consulting services. Remote jobs and work-from-home jobs are also an option (and my favorite), allowing you to use skills like graphic design or writing to make money.
Remember, it is possible to make money while on maternity leave. Yes, it will most likely be very hard at times and even feel impossible. But, you do have many options to try and make it work.

The Big Apple is one of the most iconic places on Earth. New York City residents even go as far as to associate the concrete jungle with who they are as a person. With world-class museums, accessible public transportation, delicious restaurants, influential theatres and many famous landmarks, the city is truly a tourist’s paradise.
But while visiting is fun, moving to New York City may feel overwhelming. Between apartment hunting, navigating steep annual rent and the various boroughs of the city, the city feels like no other city.
In this guide, we’ll break down what you need to know before you pack your bags and set off to become a New Yorker.
Moving to New York: the complete Big Apple overview
New York City is the most populous city in the United States. Thinking of the city might conjure up images of the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty and the bright lights of Broadway.
However, there’s much more to the city than the tourist hotspots. New York City is divided into five boroughs: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island. Each has a distinctive personality, with different cultural influences and attractions.
While each area is different, here are some key figures to give you a glimpse of the city overall.
Population: 8,500,000
Population density (people per square mile): 29,302.6
Median income: $70,663
Average studio rent: $4,264
Average one-bedroom rent: $5,367
Average two-bedroom rent: $7,914
Cost of living index: 100
Popular neighborhoods in New York
Between all five boroughs, New York City has hundreds of neighborhoods to explore. But don’t let this intimidate you. They’re all connected by New York’s world-famous transit system, so you can peruse them at your leisure. Here are a few of our favorite neighborhoods to get you started.
Astoria: Astoria is located in Queens, just across the river from Manhattan’s Upper East Side. This charming neighborhood is made up of low-rise buildings and small businesses, giving it a more suburban feel than you might expect in the big city.
Riverdale: Who said you couldn’t get beautiful green spaces in New York City? Riverdale, located above Manhattan in the Bronx, is known for its natural landscapes. With Van Cortlandt Park, Wave Hill and stunning Hudson River views, this quiet residential neighborhood is ideal for New Yorkers who still want to enjoy the great outdoors.
West Village: The West Village, located in downtown Manhattan, perfectly encapsulates the New York you know from your favorite movies and TV shows. This charming spot is tucked inside the larger Greenwich Village. It features tree-lined streets, historic brownstones and plenty of well-preserved historical landmarks from the neighborhood’s bohemian past.
Upper East Side: The Upper East Side offers excellent residential options and world-famous cultural sites. Located between Central Park and the East River, the neighborhood offers plenty of places to get outside and explore. The Upper East Side is also home to Museum Mile, where more than a dozen art and history museums await.
Williamsburg: Williamsburg is a great example of New York’s diversity. The Brooklyn neighborhood has long been a place where cultures blend, with plenty of eclectic dining, art and entertainment options. It’s also known for its family-friendly atmosphere with parks and tree-lined streets.
The pros of moving to New York
New York, the city that never sleeps, holds a unique place in the hearts of its residents. There’s no place in the world quite like New York City and few cities that even come close to comparable. Here are just a few of the reasons that people love living in this city.
A true cultural melting pot
More languages are spoken in NYC than in any other American metro. With its long, rich immigration history, the city hosts a colorful blend of traditions, cuisines and lifestyles. Especially through the distinct boroughs of New York City, which each have its own unique personality and cultural identity.
From the vibrant energy of Manhattan to the artistic ambiance of Brooklyn, the historical charm of Queens, the green serenity of the Bronx and the island spirit of Staten Island, no matter where you go in New York, you’ll always have the opportunity to learn about a different culture.
No car required
New Yorkers love to complain about their subway system. However, even they secretly know they have it better than most people in the other cities. New York City’s subway serves more than 400 stations, making it a breeze to get where you need to be.
The subway map shows the subway also connects to numerous bus lines, ferry stops and commuter trains, giving riders even more options. From the Upper West Side to Staten Island, the subway is the easiest way to get around your new city.
There’s always something to do
Getting bored in NYC just might be impossible. The city boasts hundreds of restaurants, bars, museums, theaters and places to shop. New York City also has excellent parks, scenic riverfront trails and even beaches. Whether your ideal Saturday is spent at the Metropolitan Museum or taking a subway ride to walk the Brooklyn Bridge, you will never run out of places to explore.
The cons of moving to New York City
Of course, no city is perfect. Here are a few downsides that you should consider before you move to New York.
The high cost of living
New York City is one of the most expensive cities in America. Here, you can expect everything from your monthly rent to your groceries to cost a bit more. Space is also at a premium, so even expensive rentals tend to be smaller than what newcomers might be used to. Even your security deposit will be a tad pricier than you are probably used to.
It’s hard to avoid the crowds
NYC is the most densely populated city in America. As such, it can be hard to avoid the crowds when you’re out and about. Neighborhoods in midtown and downtown Manhattan can get particularly packed, so plan accordingly. Consider neighborhoods like Staten Island and Brooklyn when opting for a less densely populated area in New York, with all the same perks and amenities.
The realities of big-city living
Living in any big city can take some getting used to and New York is no exception. The city can be noisy, dirty and downright overwhelming. If you’re coming from a smaller city or town, New York may feel like a different planet. It’s best to visit the Big Apple during your apartment hunt to really get a feel for the space and pace of the city.
How to get started on your move to New York
New York is a city that’s in constant motion. But for the people who live here, no place feels more like home. If you’re ready to make New York your home, we’re here to guide you every step of the way. Find your perfect New York City apartment here, and get ready for your journey to the city that never sleeps.
