In general, as Americans age, their net worth increases. Over time, people are able to command higher salaries and purchase property—meanwhile, their investments and retirement accounts continue to grow.
The one caveat is for individuals 75 years and older. This is due to individuals no longer working and spending their retirement savings later in life.

Personal Capital is a client-centric robo-advisor offering investment and wealth management services. The company distinguishes itself from the competition by combining automation with personal service. With over 2.7 million users, Personal Capital currently holds $16 billion in assets under management.
Unlike many financial apps designed to make investing more accessible, Personal Capital is a robo-advisor for those who already have some established wealth. They’ve gone back and forth on the minimum investment required, which is now set at $100,000.

Its goal is to provide a more transparent and affordable investment platform. However, its wealth management service does target clients with larger assets, with higher fees being assessed with the fewer assets you let the company manage.
In this Personal Capital review, we’ll get into the specifics shortly, but the upside to potentially paying higher fees is the access you get to financial advisors to help with your investment strategy.
The company utilizes five principles for investing:
the modern portfolio theory
personalized asset allocation
tax optimization
equal sector and style weighting
disciplined rebalancing
No matter how much in assets you’re looking to invest, consider Personal Capital if you prefer a hands-on experience or if you have a large portfolio to open or transfer. Either way, we’ll take you step-by-step through the different types of accounts you can have with Personal Capital, as well as the fees you’ll pay at different asset levels.
You’ll also learn about the special features that make Personal Capital unique, including financial tools and expertise. If you’re looking for an online advisor for any or all of your wealth management, see if Personal Capital is right for you.
Available Plans at Personal Capital
There are three different plans available at Personal Capital, which are divided up based on the amount of investable assets you have. If you know how much you’d like to invest, find the correct category to learn about the benefits and services you’d receive from Personal Capital. Then keep reading to learn more about the fee structure.
Investment Service Plan
The first plan is targeted for those with up to $200,000 in assets to be invested. Services include access to a financial advisory team, a tax-efficient ETF portfolio, dynamic tactical weighting, 401k advice, and cash flow & spending insights.
You’ll also get to use Personal Capital’s free wealth management tools. You do, however, need a minimum of $100,000 to get started investing with Personal Capital.
Wealth Management Plan
The next option is the Wealth Management plan, for those with investable assets between $200,000 and $1 million. You get access to all the benefits from the Investment Service plan, plus several others.
The Wealth Management service includes two dedicated financial advisors, customizable stocks and ETFs, a full financial and retirement plan, college savings and 529 planning, tax-loss harvesting and tax location, and financial decisions support.
The financial decisions support refers to help with insurance, home financing, stock options, and compensation. Also, note while your financial advisors can help you plan for investment accounts like a 401k for retirement or a 529 for college savings, Personal Capital doesn’t actually offer these accounts.
Private Client Plan
If you invest more than $1 million, you qualify for the Private Client Plan. Again, you receive all the perks of the previous two plans, in addition to several more.
To begin, you’ll get priority access to CFP, financial advisors, investment committee, and support, plus an investment portfolio mix of ETFs, individual stocks, and individual bonds (in certain situations).
You also receive family tiered billing; private banking services; estate, tax, and legacy portfolio construction; and donor-advised funds. Personal Capital also offers private clients a private equity and hedge fund review, deferred compensation strategy, as well as estate attorney and CPA collaboration.

Fee Structure and Accounts
The more money you invest through Personal Capital, the more money you’ll save in fees. If you invest up to $1 million, your fee comes to 0.89% of the assets being managed. If you invest more than $1 million, your first $3 million in assets are only charged a 0.79% fee. Then, your next $2 million is charged 0.69%.
The $5 million after that are charged 0.59% and the next $10 million are charged 0.49%. However, there aren’t any charged beyond the account management fees, so you don’t have to worry about annual, transfer, or closing fees.
So what types of investment accounts are supported through Personal Capital? There are many: both individual and joint non-retirement counts; Roth, traditional, SEP, and rollover IRAs; and trusts.
Through your Personal Capital investments, you can expect a healthy range in your portfolio. For example, when buying U.S. equities, they buy a diversified sample of at least 70 individual stocks that epitomize their tactical weighting approach and optimize your account for tax purposes.
Personal Capital also only purchases liquid securities, so that if you ever need to access cash quickly, you can receive funds within a settlement period of just one to three days.
Funds are held by Pershing Advisor Solutions, a Bank of New York Mellon Company. It is one of the largest U.S. custodians and currently holds more than a trillion dollars in global client assets.
Tax Optimization Strategies
Personal Capital uses several techniques and strategies to ensure clients are optimizing their taxes on investments. First, they entirely avoid mutual funds, which they regard as inefficient for tax purposes. Their asset location is personalized whether you have taxable accounts or retirement accounts.
For example, Personal Capital typically places high-yielding accounts and fixed income into a tax-deferred or exempt account. REITs are also generally placed in a retirement account because they pay nonqualified dividends.
Finally, Personal Capital utilizes tax-loss harvesting, meaning they use individual securities that realize losses and can, therefore, offset gains or provide a tax deduction.
Special Features
You can take advantage of some of Personal Capital’s online resources without even becoming a client. Just by creating a Personal Capital account, you can link all of your financial accounts for an investment checkup.
The program analyzes your bank accounts, credit cards, and investments to create recommendations on your asset allocations. You can then choose whether to make those adjustments to your investments.
Additionally, you can check holistically on how your investments are performing by considering how much you’re charged in fees. You can do this in one of two ways.
The first is through the Mutual Fund Analyzer, which you can compare performance (with fees) against the broader markets. Then you can use the general Fee Analyzer to see what you’re being charged on your non-taxable retirement accounts.
You can also use Personal Capital for a budget check-up that analyzes your saving and spending. You can even incorporate their Retirement Planner for long-term savings projections.
You’ll be provided with several scenarios, including best-case, worst-case, and most likely. It gives you a good idea of what you could potentially expect when you’re finally ready to retire.
All of these features run through the Personal Capital financial dashboard, so you can get a holistic view of your entire financial picture. You can use them on their mobile app or website.
Some of their investment management tools include a 401(k) Analyzer, Retirement Planner, Investment Checkup, Net Worth Calculator. Moreover, you still have the ability to contact a personal financial advisor.
As we mentioned earlier, Personal Capital implements five distinct strategies for investing. Learn a bit more about each one to get a better grasp of how your money would be managed by this advisor.
Modern Portfolio Theory
The prime directive here is to create an efficient portfolio for clients while yielding the highest possible return for the lowest possible risk.
Personal Capital works with six asset classes to provide this equilibrium, which are all meant to be liquid and broadly investible. These asset classes are U.S. stocks and bonds, international stocks and bonds, alternatives (including ETFs and commodities), and cash for liquidity.
Personalized Asset Allocation
There’s a reason the company is called Personal Capital: they understand that no two investors are exactly alike. That’s why they look at your individual data and financial goals to balance your portfolio’s risk and growth.
They use a proprietary Retirement Planner software that analyzes your spending and savings habits in addition to your projected income. This helps you determine what your financial future looks like and what you may need to change to reach your future goals.
Tax Optimization
We mentioned earlier that Personal Capital optimizes your taxes by using tax-loss harvesting and asset location, as well as avoiding mutual funds.
In fact, these steps could boost your annual returns by as much as 1%. While many financial advisors use one or two of these tactics, Personal Capital offers a truly robust strategy to make your portfolio more tax efficient.
Equal Sector and Style Weighting
Personal Capital’s strategy for diversification involves equalizing the composition of your portfolio by sector, size, and style.
The goal is to prevent bubbles and other volatile conditions from adversely affecting your investments too much. Likewise, they don’t rely on a few large companies, but instead spread out U.S. stock investments between 70 and 100 different stocks.
Disciplined Rebalancing
Your portfolio receives a daily review for any potential rebalancing needs. For high-level assets, they’re typically rebalanced when they deviate more than a few percentage points from the target.
Specific securities receive a smaller margin and are reviewed after just a 0.5% move from the target. Having a systematic review allows you to maximize your ability to buy low and sell high.
Who is Personal Capital best for?
Personal Capital offers truly extensive services for high net worth investors, particularly considering the low percentage of fees charged. This is especially true if you’re an investor with several million dollars in assets and who likes to have easy access to a dedicated financial advisory.
After all, in the Private Client tier of $1 million+, you can get advice on just about anything related to your finances, whether it’s about retirement, real estate, or anything in between.
That’s on top of the personalized asset management, so you have a one-stop-shop of both automated algorithms and a human point of contact who understands the larger picture concerning your finances.
Personal Capital also makes it easy for this type of investor to remain passive. If you appreciate their investment management and like how the allocation and review processes, then you don’t have to do much on your own.
Tyler, The Creator, a name synonymous with innovation, creativity, and sheer talent, has not only made waves with his groundbreaking tracks but also through his impressive forays into fashion and entrepreneurship.
With two Grammy Awards under his belt and a net worth that’s the envy of many, it’s only fitting that Tyler’s living situation mirrors his larger-than-life persona.
Set in the lush, exclusive neighborhood of Bel Air, California, Tyler, The Creator’s house is a sprawling mansion that screams luxury and showcases Tyler’s unique sense of style. And it’s a significant upgrade from the rapper’s previous abode — set nearby.
That’s right, the hip-hop heavyweight, who’s also a founding member of the rap collective Odd Future is now a real-life Prince of Bel Air (and the spot was right open, as the OG Fresh Prince, Will Smith, lives in Calabasas).
He recently traded a $7 million, one-story residence originally built in 1965 for a distinctly modern, three-story home (with an endless list of amenities) also located in Bel Air. And, just in case you were wondering where Tyler, The Creator lives nowadays, we’re here to give you a closer look at his home upgrade.
The house at a glance
Fresh off the heels of his launch of a deluxe re-release of his Grammy Award-winning album, Call Me If You Get Lost: The Estate Sale, Tyler — by his real name, Tyler Gregory Okonma — splurged on a $13 million mansion in the ritzy Bel Air neighborhood.
Tucked away on a woodsy parcel sitting on almost an acre of land, Tyler paid $2 million less than the asking price for his newly renovated (or rather, rebuilt) property.
The house had been listed for sale in November 2022 for $15,000,000 and Tyler purchased it three months later, with public records showing that the sale went through right before Valentine’s Day on February 14, 2023, giving himself a grand self-gift that rivals the best box of chocolates.
And the property isn’t just your regular house; it’s a 5,000-square-foot modern marvel sitting on nearly an acre of prime Bel Air land.
With 4 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, and an open floor plan that seamlessly merges indoor and outdoor living, the property is a dream come true for anyone with a penchant for the finer things in life. Swipe through the photos to see inside Tyler’s house:
Completely rebuilt one year before Tyler purchased it, the three-level house replaced another three-story structure built in the early 1970s, meaning the WusYaName singer is basically living in a newly built home.
Designed with an eye for contemporary elegance and a nod to rustic charm, the mansion boasts breathtaking views of the city and ocean, making every moment in this house an experience in itself.
From the custom Brazilian wood floors with a white oak finish to the steel case windows that frame the stunning vistas outside, every detail in Tyler’s home has been curated to offer not just comfort but a statement of luxury.
The inclusion of a step-up cigar lounge and a formal living room adds layers of sophistication, making the house not just a living space but a venue for artistic inspiration and high-end entertainment.
Standout amenities for the modern music mogul
But what sets Tyler, The Creator’s Bel Air mansion apart are the amenities that cater to every conceivable luxury.
Let the property’s former real estate agent, Ben Bacal — who held the listing alongside his colleague Rachael Williams from Revel Real Estate — give you the gist of things in this quick video tour posted on his Instagram profile when the house was first listed:
The saltwater swimming pool is a centerpiece of the outdoor area, perfect for those sunny California days.
For movie enthusiasts and cinephiles, the state-of-the-art movie theater offers an immersive experience without ever needing to step outside.
Health and wellness are also a priority, with a dry sauna available for a detoxifying session after a long day. The expansive wood deck, complete with a fire pit, full bar, and gas grill, ensures that entertaining guests is always a breeze, providing a perfect blend of ambiance and amenities for any gathering.
In a world where privacy is a luxury, this property, hidden behind private gates and surrounded by a tranquil woodsy setting, offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle, giving the Grammy Award-winning rapper the much-needed privacy he deserves.
Yet, it’s the home’s tech-driven features, from the sophisticated smart home controls to the luxury of an 8-car parking space, that underscore Tyler’s penchant for the cutting edge.
The other Bel Air home Tyler sold
Tyler, The Creator’s decision to snap up another Bel Air mansion doesn’t come as much of a surprise, as the Igor rapper has long been calling the upscale Los Angeles neighborhood home.
Prior to his $13 million manse purchase, Tyler owned another Bel-Air abode, a lovely mid-century home with contemporary interiors — which he listed for sale in late 2022 for $7 million.

— Maniaci Real Estate Group (@ManiaciREGroup) December 17, 2022
The single-story home was built in 1965, but heavily updated sometime in the 1950s.
Sporting 4 bedrooms, 4.5 baths, a large living room with a fireplace, a huge primary bedroom with two walk-in closets, and a home theatre, the house clearly wasn’t a good fit for the Call Me If You Get Lost rapper.
Less than a year after purchasing it, Tyler listed that property at a loss (he paid $7.9 million for it just 12 months prior).
Hopefully, he’s now found the right fit with his new $13 million Bel Air abode.

What is the Stock Market?
The stock market is a system of securities, such as stocks and bonds, in which investors buy and sell ownership stakes to each other on various exchanges using money or their own businesses.
Simply put, the stock market is a place where people invest money.
There are many different ways to invest in the stock market, but one of the most popular ways is through buying stocks.
Investing in stocks is a commonly used way to make money.
In the stock market, people can buy and sell shares of companies they believe will rise in value. You can participate by investing in the stock market by buying individual shares of a company like AMZN (Amazon), investing in an ETF like VTI, or investing with a mutual fund, such as VTSAX.
One former assistant principal, Teri Ijeoma, changed her life when she left her job as an educator and become an active trader.
What does it mean when the stock market is up or down
When the stock market is up, it means that stocks have been doing well.
Conversely, when the stock market is down, it means that stocks are losing value.
You have heard the saying… buy low, sell high.
Stocks are an investment that you can purchase in order to make a profit, but the best time to buy stocks is when they are at their lowest price.
If you bought a stock for $100 and its value increased by 10%, then your stock would be worth $110. However, if you bought 20 stocks at $100 and the value increased by 10%, then your new value is $2,200. If you are trading options, then your return (and risk) is much greater.
When the market is up or down there are always going to be opportunities to make money from the stock market!
The hardest part for the novice investor is to determine when to buy and sell.
Thankfully, there is a great investing course to help you figure out how to invest in stocks and options.
Timing the Stock Market
Can you even time the stock market?
Many people are concerned with timing the stock market because of its volatility. Honestly, no one knows what the stock market will do.
As a technical stock trader, you will learn based on previous actions how the market and individual stocks may react.
When day traders or swing traders “time” the market, they are using time frames to make their predictions. Those traders who manage their risk and potential losses well will do better in the market.
For the average investor or someone going off a friend or Reddit recommendation, timing the market can be detrimental to your portfolio.
The real answer to the question, “Is now a good time to buy stocks?” is that there’s no such thing as an ideal moment. It could be a great time or it could also be terrible timing. There are too many variables and market risks which makes this decision very difficult for investors.
Too many times, investors fall into the trap of panic selling while stock prices are low and buying when stocks are high on the fear of missing out (FOMO).
That is why the common knowledge states don’t time the market.
However, I can tell you that you can time the market. If (and it is a big if) you are willing to put the time and effort into an investing education as you would going to college.
Many people have found success in timing the market.
Why investing is always a good idea
Remember earlier in this post, we stated the stock market has averaged 13.9% over the past 10 years and only had 3 negative years in the past twenty.
Simply put, that means you can make money, and investing is a good idea.
That is better than the flip side of your money sitting in the back earning slightly above 0% and when you account for inflation, your money is worthless.
The stock market is (almost) always following an upwards trajectory.
This means investors are more likely to experience gains in their investments than they would if the prices were going down. Moreover, it’s almost never a good idea to just let your money sit doing nothing for years on end because inflation will eventually force you into losing value at some point.
Instead of waiting until then and hoping for the best, focus on what you want instead of what the market is doing at any specific moment.

Is now a good time to invest?
This is the wrong question. The better question to ask would be “What is a good time to invest?”
It is not always a good time to invest. Before buying stocks, it is important that you do your research and have a clear purpose for investing in the first place. Once you know why you are investing, then it will be easier to answer when now might actually be a good time.
What are your goals for investing in stocks?
Are you looking to make extra money?
Do you enjoy learning about the fundamentals of your favorite companies?
Do you have the time to invest to learn about investing in stocks and executing trades?
The desire to increase your investment accounts and net worth appealing?
If you answered yes, then you are ready to start investing in stocks.
If you said no, then stick to consistently investing in EFTs or mutual funds. That is still a solid investing strategy!
The bottom line is whether you are ready to invest. The stock market will continue to do its thing whether you choose to participate or not.
Why does the stock market just keep going up?
The stock market has been steadily climbing for the long trend.
As a result, it’s important to be aware of the factors that influence how much you can profit from stocks. This includes understanding what drives stock prices and when these markets are likely to go up or down.
The reality is that there is no such thing as an “always” in investing — there will always be downturns at some point for any market, but those dips won’t last forever either.
As history proves, the stock market over time will keep going up.
Why has the stock market dropped?
This is the #1 reason why most people are terrified of investing in the stock market.
The fear of the stock market dropping and losing money. Or maybe they were burned in the previous market corrections in 2001 or 2008.
Typically, the stock market has dropped because of the following:
The global economy is going through a rough patch.
There is fear that the US may be headed for another recession.
The US is experiencing inflation that has caused the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates.
In other words, investors are uncertain about the future of the global economy and are afraid of a recession in the US, which will have a significant impact on the stock market.
Just remember, the S&P 500 has come back each time after posting a year or two of negative returns.
However, you can still make money as an investor when the market goes down! Learn how to ride that elevator up and down.
What are the best times to trade stocks?
Ask a few different investment gurus and you are likely to get a variety of answers such as:
It is best to trade stocks when the market is down and on a day with low volume. This way, you are less likely to be hit with volatility that could cause your profits to drop.
The best times to trade stocks are when the market is stable, meaning that there are few fluctuations in price. The most optimal time to enter and exit the market is during a period of low volatility.
The best time to trade stocks is when the market is at an all-time high. (very wrong idea, so don’t try this one)
Traders should try and stay away from markets when volatility or uncertainty is high.
It is important to understand the best times for trading stocks in order to maximize profits.
Overall, your trading plan will tell you the best time for you to trade stocks. Over time with practice in a simulated account, you will be aware of the best times for trading.
Your best times will be different than mine; they will vary for all of us and that is okay. We all view the stock market and read charts in our own way.
Best Stocks to Buy Right Now
What are the stocks to invest in right now? Should you buy stocks now?
Well, first of all, I am not an advisor telling you what to invest in. You are responsible for doing your due diligence.
The best stocks to buy are the stocks that you understand the best– YOUR Watchlist!
Typically, that means following 10 stock tickers and learning everything you can about how those stocks move.
Other investing gurus may tell you the best stock to buy is one that has a low price-to-earnings ratio. This is because the company has room for growth, and they are more than likely not overvalued in the market. They look for industries that are experiencing either a slowdown or an increase in competition.
Personally, I like to stick with strong, healthy companies to buy.
Many times the best stocks to buy right now are growth stocks, which have been very successful in 2021. These types of companies grow rapidly and offer significant returns on investment in a short period time frame.

Can You Afford to Buy Stocks?
There are a lot of factors that go into determining the best time for someone to begin investing or trading stocks.
The most important aspect is whether or not you have enough money at your disposal, which can be determined by your personal financial situation.
Other factors that may play a role in determining the best time to trade are whether or not the person trading has a specific investment objective, and if they have a time-sensitive need.

There is a difference between being rich and wealthy.
However, most people combine rich and wealthy into one bucket because they both seem so far off and unreachable.
It is important that you understand the distinction because what one person considers “rich” might actually be considered “wealthy.”
There is a huge difference between the two words, no matter how they are used.
Earning a lot of money does not automatically lead to happiness and success because when one achieves happiness when it can be reflected in the fulfillment of ambition.
Being rich usually means that you have an abundance of material things such as money and expensive items.
Being independently wealthy can be seen as someone who has a lot of money, but it also means that they have enough money that will last the test of time.
There is a difference between being rich and being wealthy, but they are both can be seen as positive things.
Let’s discuss the different types of wealth and how they are defined in order to help differentiate these two concepts.
The real key of Rich vs Wealthy is the discussion on which one you should be striving to be.
So, is it better to be rich or wealthy?
What is a Rich Person?
A rich person is someone who has a lot of money and assets. This may be a businessperson, an investor, or just someone who has been very successful in their field.
This rich person has probably created new money vs old money.
Rich people tend to barely save any money and spend excessively, meaning they run out of cash quickly. For example, a rich person might earn $10,000 in a month while spending $12,000 to wind up with a negative $2000 when the month is over.
The amount of debt for a rich person tends to be higher. They are willing to keep up the lifestyle rather than tell others about their debts.
To be rich you have to be able to take the risk of having money to invest and time to wait for the windfall.
What is a Wealthy Person?
A wealthy person is someone who has a lot of money for their lifestyle standards.
Since a wealthy person is consistently growing their money because they save and are wise with what they have. They tend to think of the future and put away some cash for it rather than spending everything.
Their goal is to take their large sum of money and grow that money even more through active or passive income.
A wealthy person does not have to be a number-crunching billionaire or someone who is living lavishly.
It is all about the decisions that you make and how those decisions can lead to wealth.
You can start to build wealth when you hit your first $100k in investments. When you have a salary of over $100k a year, this is much easier to do fast.
Wealthy people are those who have a lot more money than you do, but they work hard every day in order to keep it.
Rich vs Wealthy Money Habits
Rich people tend to spend more money than wealthy people.
The difference between rich people and wealthy people is that rich people have money habits that often lead to debt. Rich people are not usually frugal, and they tend to spend a lot of money.
Also, rich people have the ability to earn more if they choose something different in the future.
Rich people are usually defined as those with a net worth of over $10 million, but there is no set number for how much money someone has to be considered rich.
Wealthy people, on the other hand, have an annual income of $150,000 or more. Their wealth comes from hard work and saving money to slowly increase their net worth.
Broke People Habits:
Spend time watching TV and playing video games

No emergency fund
Rich Habits:
Earns a lot of money
Spends a lot of money
Enjoys a flashy lifestyle
Okay being in debt
Focuses on the short term
Not big savers of their money
They frown upon being frugal
Prefer a challenge to make more money
Takes on bigger risks
Their inner circle is people exactly like them
Very impulse with decision making
Wealthy Habits:
Set long term goals
Creates an action plan to reach their goals
Take responsibility for their actions
Saves money consistently
Understands that passive income will grow their wealth
Constantly learning
Spend time reading
Enjoys the fact they have options
Lives below their means
Embraces frugal
Shy away from debt
Finds a mentor
How to Go from Rich to Wealthy
Many people feel the need to be rich because they have the idea that being rich is key to success.
However, many times, wealthy people are wealthier than their counterparts who are both richer and wealthier.
If you are rich, then it is important that you are not frugal because many times, being wealthy means having a lot of money and saving the rest. If you have a lot of money and are not frugal with it, then you could end up broke.
However, if your goal is to become wealthy meaning having a lot of money AND saving, then you are on the right path to financial freedom.
This is the difference between being rich and wealthy.
Rich vs Wealthy Mindset
First of all, the definitions of each of these are really close.
A rich mindset is a state of mind that knows that there are no limits to what you can achieve.
A wealthy mindset believes that success and wealth come from hard work and dedication.
Honestly, both money mindsets are needed to keep pushing yourself to reach financial freedom and enjoy time freedom.
You need a rich mindset to grow your money, but a wealthy mindset to keep that wealth.
The wealthy are more likely to have a growth mindset than the poor because they know that money is merely an instrument for achieving their goals.
Whereas, rich people often spend too much time worrying about what others think of them and why they aren’t as successful or wealthy as other people in society.
How to Become Wealthy
This is a question that has been asked many times, and finding the answer depends on how you define wealth.
In general, becoming wealthy means having enough money to support yourself without any outside help.
You have enough money to cover your expenses without the need for an additional influx of money. For many people, that means they need at least $1 million dollars, so they can live off the investments gains and dividends. If you are single, then $500k may be enough.
As such, becoming wealthy is one of the most difficult things to do.
If you are constantly struggling to make ends meet and never saving money, then becoming wealthy will be even harder for you to accomplish!
Here is what you need to do to move from well off vs rich vs wealthy.
Step #1 – Get out of debt
For people who are in debt, the solution is simple: get out of debt.
But for a lot of people, they need to make some changes before they can do that.
It’s important to get out of debt and that takes time. The more debt you have, the longer it will take.
However, I will tell you from personal experience. Until we paid off our debt, we didn’t make any progress financially. We were stuck on a hamster wheel. Since paying off our debt, we reach our financial goals so much easier.
Track your progress, set goals, and stay motivated while getting out of debt.
Step #2 – Stop comparing yourself
Although comparisons can be helpful and may indicate which side is doing better or worse, they are not always accurate. Sometimes comparing yourself to others will make you feel inferior and frustrated.
Keep in mind that you are not just the sum of your accomplishments.
Stop comparing yourself to other people and start focusing on the things that make you happy.
Conversely, spending time with people who inspire you will help cultivate a wealthy mindset. It can be anyone from your family members to celebrities, but it is important that these individuals are inspirational and not toxic for your mental health.
Step #3 – Become Your Own Boss
This doesn’t mean you can’t keep your 9-5 job. It means you are looking for ways to make money outside the traditional “job.”
An entrepreneur is a person who organizes and runs a business, typically with manageable risk and a small amount of capital, in order to turn it into a profitable venture.
Become creative with ways to bring in extra money. Some ideas include day trading, dropshipping, starting an Etsy shop, driving for Uber, or walking dogs.
Here are great ways to make money on the side:
It is possible to make more money on your business than you make more money in your current job or career.
Step #4 – Be Generous
Be generous to others.
Being wealthy means living a comfortable life and being able to help others.
Giving away money can be a way to build wealth, but it is not the only way. This helps you realize the impact you can have on the world.
Your small contribution can help shape and change the lives of so many.
Consequently, giving and helping others will motivate you to work harder and continue building your wealth.
Step #5 – Think Long Term & Set Goals
Life goals have exploded in recent years and many of us are now focused on growing our own wealth.
The truth of the matter is both wealth and richness are great.
Wealth enables a person to live life on his own terms and allows them to achieve the things they have dreamed of.
But, getting there does not just magically appear.
It takes a plan of action to reach those smart financial goals.
By consistently saving money, you will slowly build your net worth. Step by step you are building the foundation to become wealthy.
Baby steps to becoming wealthy.
Rich vs Wealthy Quotes
This rich vs wealthy quote from Stephen Swid is one of my favorite all-time quotes.
This quote quickly summarizes the difference between the wealthy vs rich definition.
“Being rich is having money; being wealthy is having time.”
As an American businessman and investor, Stephen Swid spent countless hours on various deal negotiations and build his own wealth. He understood the wealthy vs rich meaning.
This quote is something I focus on when making decisions of what next steps to take.
What does this quote mean to you?
What is considered being wealthy?
Being wealthy is a subjective term that can be interpreted in many ways. The definition of the term is different for everyone, so it’s hard to answer this question definitively.
Many people believe you need 7 figures or even 10 figures.
One could be considered to be wealthy or poor based on their country’s standards, their personal spending habits, and the types of investments they have.
The richest people are those who have made their wealth through investments and not necessarily the ones that have spent a lot of money.
The definition of wealthy is different for everyone, but it’s generally considered to be someone who has a lot of money and financial stability.
Being wealthy is measured by how much money you accumulate and save.
It is understanding your personal finances to budget, track savings, contribute to retirement, and grow liquid net worth.
A wealthy person is someone who has made wise decisions. Wealth does not have anything to do with how much money you have in your bank account.
Do you Fit the Definition of Wealthy vs Rich?
Now, we have covered the difference between the wealthy and the rich. If you’re wondering what is the difference between rich and wealthy, it’s not that complicated.
Rich people are those who have saved, invested, and built net worth through their income or assets. Wealthy people can follow these three simple steps to build your own wealth: save money in a savings account or investment account; invest in stocks, bonds, or other securities for growth; create an asset such as real estate by purchasing property with borrowed funds on low-interest rates
The key distinction between being rich or wealthy is the mindset.
Rich people might have more money in their bank accounts or assets, but they don’t think of themselves as rich because they are worried about their appearance and keeping up with their elite society. Wealthy individuals are those who see value in accumulating wealth primarily through investing and growing their financial portfolio with investments over time.
A rich person is someone who has more money than the average person but may not wealthy. They are always looking to make more money and spend more because they believe that there is not enough time or money in this world for them to enjoy.
Wealthy individuals are those who can afford to buy things and choose not to because it helps them increase their net worth and become more wealthy.
The only way to be wealthy is by being smart on your investments and having time for yourself in order to find happiness.
Being rich may or may not be something you should aspire to be. The more money you have, the more responsibilities you get.
There are many rich and wealthy people who are unhappy because they are so busy trying to keep up with society’s expectations.

Ever dream of leaving your job to pursue a project you’ve always been passionate about, like starting your own business? Or going back to school without taking out student loans? What about the option to retire at age 50 instead of 65 without having to worry about money?
Any of these opportunities could happen if you’re able to achieve financial freedom — having the money and resources to afford the lifestyle you want.
Intrigued by the idea of being financially free? Read on to find out what financial freedom means and how it works, plus 12 ways to help make it a reality.
What Is Financial Freedom?
Financial freedom is being in a financial position that allows you to afford the lifestyle you want. It’s typically achieved by having enough income, savings, or investments so you can live comfortably without the constant stress of having to earn a certain amount of money.
For instance, you might attain financial freedom by saving and investing in such a way that allows you to build wealth, or by growing your income so you’re able to save more for the future. Eventually, you may become financially independent and live off your savings and investments.
There are a number of different ways to work toward financial freedom so that you can stop living paycheck-to-paycheck, get out of debt, save and invest, and prepare for retirement. 💡 Quick Tip: Did you know that opening a brokerage account typically doesn’t come with any setup costs? Often, the only requirement to open a brokerage account — aside from providing personal details — is making an initial deposit.
12 Ways to Help You Reach Financial Freedom
The following strategies can help start you on the path to financial freedom.
1. Determine Your Needs
A good first step toward financial freedom is figuring out what kind of lifestyle you want to have once you reach financial independence, and how much it will cost you to sustain it. Think about what will make you happy in your post-work life and then create a budget to help you get there.
As a bonus, living on — and sticking to — a budget now will allow you to meet your current expenses, pay your bills, and save for the future.
2. Reduce Debt
Debt can make it very hard, if not impossible, to become financially free. Debt not only reduces your overall net worth by the amount you’ve got in loans or lines of outstanding credit, but it increases your monthly expenses.
To pay off debt, you may want to focus on the avalanche method, which prioritizes the payment of high-interest debt like credit cards.
You might also try to see if you can get a lower interest rate on some of your debts. For instance, with credit card debt, it may be possible to lower your interest rate by calling your credit card company and negotiating better terms.
And be sure to pay all your other bills on time, including loan payments, to avoid going into even more debt.
3. Set Up an Emergency Fund
Having an emergency fund in place to cover at least three to six months’ worth of expenses when something unexpected happens can help prevent you from taking on more debt.
With an emergency fund, if you lose your job, or your car breaks down and needs expensive repairs, you’ll have the funds on hand to cover it, rather than having to put it on your credit card. That emergency cushion is a type of financial freedom in itself.
4. Seek Higher Wages
If you’re not earning enough to cover your bills, you aren’t going to be able to save enough to retire early and pursue your passions. For many people, figuring out how to make more money in order to increase savings is another crucial step in the journey toward financial freedom.
There are different ways to increase your income. First, think about ways to get paid more for the job that you’re already doing.
For instance, ask for a raise at work, or have a conversation with your manager about establishing a path toward a higher salary. Earning more now can help you save more for your future needs.
5. Consider a Side Gig
Another way to increase your earnings is to take on a side hustle outside of your full-time job. For instance, you could do pet-sitting or tutoring on evenings and weekends to generate supplemental income. You could then save or invest the extra money.
6. Explore New Income Streams
You can get creative and brainstorm opportunities to create new sources of income. One idea: Any property you own, including real estate, cars, and tools, might potentially serve as money-making assets. You may sell these items, or explore opportunities to rent them out.
7. Open a High-Yield Savings Account
A savings account gives you a designated place to put your money so that it can grow as you keep adding to it. And a high-yield savings account typically allows you to earn a lot more in interest than a traditional savings account. As of February 2024, some high-yield savings accounts offered annual percentage yields (APYs) of 4.5% compared to the 0.46% APY of traditional savings accounts.
You can even automate your savings by having your paychecks directly deposited into your account. That makes it even easier to save.
8. Make Contributions to Your 401(k)
At work, contribute to your 401(k) if such a plan is offered. Contribute the maximum amount to this tax-deferred retirement account if you can — in 2024, that’s $23,000, or $30,500 if you’re age 50 or older — to help build a nest egg.
If you can’t max out your 401(k), contribute at least enough to get matching funds (if applicable) from your employer. This is essentially “free” or extra money that will go toward your retirement. 💡 Quick Tip: Want to lower your taxable income? Start saving for retirement with a traditional IRA. The money you save each year is tax deductible (and you don’t owe any taxes until you withdraw the funds, usually in retirement).
9. Consider Other Investments
After contributing to your workplace retirement plan, you may want to consider opening another retirement account, such as an IRA, or an investment account like a brokerage account. You might choose to explore different investment asset classes, such as mutual funds, stocks, bonds, or exchange-traded funds.
When you invest, the power of compounding returns may help you grow your money over time. But be aware that there is risk involved with investing.
Although the stock market has generally experienced a high historical rate of return, stocks are notoriously volatile. If you’re thinking about investing, be sure to learn about the stock market first, and do research to find what kind of investments might work best for you.
It’s also extremely important to determine your risk tolerance to help settle on an investment strategy and asset type you’re comfortable with. For instance, you may be more comfortable investing in mutual funds rather than individual stocks.
10. Stay Up to Date on Financial Issues
Practicing “financial literacy,” which means being knowledgeable about financial topics, can help you manage your money. Keep tabs on financial news and changes in the tax laws or requirements that might pertain to you. Reassess your investment portfolio at regular intervals to make sure it continues to be in line with your goals and priorities. And go over your budget and expenses frequently to check that they accurately reflect your current situation.
11. Reduce Your Expenses
Maximize your savings by minimizing your costs. Analyze what you spend monthly and look for things to trim or cut. Bring lunch from home instead of buying it out during the work week. Cancel the gym membership you’re not using. Eat out less frequently. These things won’t impact your quality of life, and they will help you save more.
12. Live Within Your Means
And finally, avoid lifestyle creep: Don’t buy expensive things you don’t need. A luxury car or fancy vacation may sound appealing, but these “wants” can set back your savings goals and lead to new debt if you have to finance them. Borrowing money makes sense when it advances your goals, but if it doesn’t, skip it and save your money instead.
The Takeaway
Financial freedom can allow you to live the kind of life you’ve always wanted without the stress of having to earn a certain amount of money. To help achieve financial freedom, follow strategies like making a budget, paying your bills on time, paying down debt, living within your means, and contributing to your 401(k).
Saving and investing your money are other ways to potentially help build wealth over time. Do your research to find the best types of accounts and investments for your current situation and future aspirations.

Do you find yourself dreaming about what you would do if you were a millionaire? Maybe you fantasize about retiring early and traveling the world. Or perhaps what excites you is the thought of being able to donate to causes you care about.
But, you might be wondering, how to become a millionaire? You may suspect the only way you’ll ever be that rich is if you win the lottery.
Fortunately, the road to wealth isn’t that narrow — there are many ways to become a millionaire. For instance, some individuals retire with over a million dollars in savings because they made good financial decisions.
Others may have started businesses that brought them success, advanced their careers so that they made enough to save seven figures, or made smart investments.
Read on to learn more about how to become a millionaire, and strategies that could help get you there.
Introduction to the Millionaire Mindset and Goals
You may have a certain image of a millionaire in your mind. Maybe it’s a jetsetter or a celebrity. But many millionaires are not born into wealthy families or individuals who suddenly struck it rich. In fact, many millionaires are people who work for a living every day. In general, what tends to set them apart is that they have a millionaire mindset. They are smart and disciplined when it comes to their money. And they stay focused on their financial goals.
Defining What it Means to be a Millionaire
The true definition of a millionaire is someone with a net worth of at least $1 million. That means that their assets, minus any debt, is $1 million or more.
So, if you have $500,000 in savings and investments, plus a house that’s worth at least $500,000, are you a millionaire? Yes, if you own the house outright and don’t have a lot of debt such as car loans, student loans, or credit cards to pay off. But if you still owe money on your house and you’ve got a fair amount of debt to repay, you probably aren’t a millionaire. At least, not yet.
To do the math for your situation, total up your assets. Then subtract your debts from that amount. This will show you how close you are to reaching millionaire status, and possibly give you a sense of what you might have to do to get there.
Following these eight strategies can help when it comes to how to become a millionaire. 💡 Quick Tip: Did you know that opening a brokerage account typically doesn’t come with any setup costs? Often, the only requirement to open a brokerage account — aside from providing personal details — is making an initial deposit.
Step 1: Stay Away From Debt
As we just saw in the example above, one thing that could be holding you back from becoming a millionaire is debt — especially if that debt is “bad debt,” a term often used for high-interest debt. Eliminating your debt is key because it’s difficult to build wealth if you’re paying a significant portion of your income toward interest.
Paying off debt could help free up money to invest and build wealth. One way to repay debt is to use the debt avalanche method. With this technique, you pay off your debts with the highest interest rates first and then focus on debts with the next highest interest rates (while still making minimum payments on all of your debt, of course).
Eliminating debt isn’t just about paying off existing debt, though, it’s also about avoiding the chances of going into debt in the future. Part of a debt payoff strategy could involve spending less so that you don’t need to rely on credit. You can also set a strict budget and pay with cash whenever possible.
In addition, you may want to create an emergency fund by setting aside a certain amount of money every month. That way, if you have a financial setback, you don’t have to go into credit card debt.
Step 2: Invest Early and Consistently
Investing successfully doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time. That’s why you need to start early. There are a few rules to know that could help you improve your chances of becoming a millionaire.
Benefits of Compounding Returns
First, compounding returns can make all the difference. They can help your money grow, as long as the returns are reinvested.
Here’s how they work: Compounding returns depend on how much an investment gains or loses over time, which is known as the rate of return. The longer your money is invested, the more compounding it can do. That’s why some individuals start saving aggressively when they’re young.
Saving $100,000 by the time you’re 30 might not be possible for everyone, but the more you save early on, the greater impact it could have on your net worth.
And here’s the thing: Even if you’re in your 30s, 40s, or 50s now, it’s never too late to start saving. The important thing is that you start, period. And that you keep saving.
There are other investing strategies that could help as you work on how to become a millionaire. For instance, you could reduce the amount you spend on investment fees. High investment fees can have a big impact on your returns, so you might want to look into low-fee investments.
Also, you should make sure that you invest in a way that’s right for you throughout your life. That may mean investing more aggressively when you’re younger and gradually becoming more conservative in your investments as you get older and closer to retirement.
Step 3: Make Saving a Priority
Your savings is the amount of money you have left after paying taxes and spending money.
Many Americans aren’t saving enough to become a millionaire — in October 2023, the average personal savings rate was 3.8%, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis. You’ll likely need to save more than three times that amount to become a millionaire.
Effective Saving Strategies for Long-term Wealth
To save for your goals, start by investing in your company’s 401(k). Max out your 401(k) if you can. At the very least, invest at least enough to earn the employer match, if there is one. That way your employer is contributing to your savings.
In addition, consider opening a traditional IRA or a Roth IRA and contribute as much as possible — up to the limit set by the IRS. These IRAs are tax-advantaged, so they’ll help with your tax bill, too.
And investigate other savings options as well. For instance, you could open a high-yield savings account rather than a regular savings account for a higher return.
Step 4: Increase Your Income
You can’t join the ranks of millionaires if you’re not bringing in more money than you need for your basic necessities. The more money you make, the more you can save and invest.
Tips for Boosting Earnings and Maximizing Income
Some ways to boost your income include asking for a raise or looking for a new higher-paying job. You could also go back to school to earn an advanced degree that could lead to a position with a higher income. Your current employer might even help you cover the cost; check with your HR department.
Another one of the ways to earn extra money is to take on a side hustle. You could tutor students on evenings or weekends, do freelance writing, or dog sit. And those are just some of the options to consider.
Step 5: Cut Unnecessary Expenses
Getting control of your spending is critical to building wealth. That doesn’t mean you have to cut back on everything that gives you pleasure, but you could consider the happiness return on investment you get from the money that you spend. How big of an apartment or home do you truly need to be content? What kind of car do you need? Do you have to buy lunch out every day or could you bring your own lunch from home?
Identifying and Eliminating Non-Essential Spending
You could find ways to cut back on the things that don’t matter so much, but not skimping to the point that you miss out on things you love. For example, maybe you need your gym sessions (and there are plenty of low-cost gyms out there), but you can do without a $5 latte every morning.
Also, you could focus on cutting back on big expenses instead of those that won’t have a huge impact on your budget. For example, dining out only once a month, adjusting your thermostat higher or lower depending on the season, or finding a less expensive, smaller home could help you save a significant amount of money over time. 💡 Quick Tip: Distributing your money across a range of assets — also known as diversification — can be beneficial for long-term investors. When you put your eggs in many baskets, it may be beneficial if a single asset class goes down.
Step 6: Keep Your Financial Goals in Focus
To become a millionaire, you’ll need to stay laser-focused on your financial goals. When everyone else around you is spending money, going on fancy vacations, and buying expensive cars, remind yourself what’s truly important to you. Keep your spending in check, continue to save and invest, and avoid taking on debt.
It takes discipline. But instead of thinking about the stuff you don’t have, appreciate all the good things in your life, like your family and friends. Remember that you’re saving for your future. You’ll be able to enjoy yourself then if you have the money you need to live comfortably and happily.
Think of it this way: You’re making yourself and your financial security the priority. Make that your mantra.
Step 7: Consult with Investment Professionals
Investing can be complicated because there are so many options to choose from. If you need help figuring out what investments are right for you, consider working with a qualified financial advisor.
Leveraging Advice for Wealth Building
A good financial advisor could help you select the right investments and the best investing strategies for your situation. They can also help you plan and budget to reach your goals. But be sure to be an active participant in the process. Ask questions, be involved. Why are they suggesting a specific investment? And if you don’t feel comfortable with something, say so.
Finally, be sure to check your investment performance regularly. Know what you are investing in, how much, and why.

Step 8: Repeat and Refine Your Financial Plan
The final step to becoming a millionaire is to stay committed to your goal and your plan. Keep saving and investing your money. Stay out of debt. Let time and the power of compounding returns kick in. Be patient.
But also, don’t be afraid to refine or change your plan if need be. For instance, as you get closer to retirement, you will likely want to choose safer, less aggressive investments. You can keep saving and growing money throughout different ages and stages, but your method for doing so can evolve to make sense for where you are in your life.
Additional Tips for Wealth Building
In addition to all of the strategies above, there are a few other techniques that may help you reach millionaire status.
Lifestyle Considerations and Spending Habits
As you work your way up the ladder and earn more money throughout your career, you may be tempted to increase your lifestyle spending, too. After all, you have more money now, so you may feel the urge to spend it.
But here’s the thing: Giving in to these temptations can be a slippery slope. It might start with a bigger house in a nice neighborhood, and then grow to taking extravagant vacations and driving a luxury car. Before you know it, you could be spending way more than you’re saving.
Try to avoid lifestyle splurging if you want to be a millionaire. Instead, take the extra money and save and invest it. That way, you’ll be able to reach your goal even faster.
The Takeaway
Becoming a millionaire is possible if you take the right approach. It involves saving and investing your money, spending wisely, and avoiding debt. You need to be disciplined and focused, and it won’t always be easy. But staying committed to your goals can reward you with financial security and success.

Inside: Secure your financial future with insights into the top appreciating assets. Find the best appreciating assets and learn how to grow wealth with strategic investments.
Asset appreciation isn’t just an economic term; it’s the fuel that powers wealth creation. Think of appreciating assets as the golden geese, steadily laying valuable eggs that grow in size over time.
This is a crucial concept that triumphs and what you own can become the cornerstone of your financial success.
Asset appreciation isn’t just a buzzword; it’s the driving force behind significant wealth accumulation.
Whether you’re just starting or looking to expand your portfolio, understanding the role appreciation plays can mean the difference between mediocrity and staggering success.
Now, let’s dig in and help move your net worth higher.
What Are Appreciating Assets?
Appreciating assets are the golden geese of the investment world. They are the powerful engines that drive your net worth higher over time.
When you invest in assets like real estate, stocks, and even fine art, you’re placing a bet on their future value.
Unlike the car that loses value the moment you drive it off the lot, these assets typically gain worth, supernova-style, expanding your financial universe with every passing year.
How do assets appreciate in value?
Appreciation, at its core, is an asset’s journey from ‘worth X’ to ‘worth X and beyond’. But how does this magical wealth-building happen?
Several factors can give assets a financial boost.
For starters, the traditional law of supply and demand plays a huge role—if more people want it and there’s not enough to go around, the value goes up.
Toss in the influence of interest rates, economic growth, and geopolitical stability, and you have a mix that can push asset value into new echelons.
Even inflation can be a friend to assets, increasing their nominal value over time.
Remember, appreciation isn’t a given; it’s a hopeful trajectory bolstered by market forces and wise decision-making. You want to hop onto the appreciation train with assets that offer the promise of increasing in value, not just for now, but well into the future.
How to increase net worth with appreciating assets
Increasing your net worth with appreciating assets is like laying bricks for a financial fortress—it requires strategy, patience, and a mix of assets that have a history or strong potential for growth.
Start by assessing your current holdings and considering where you can diversify with assets that shine in appreciation prospects. It’s a game of balance, where you mix higher-risk, high-reward options with stable, gradual growers.
Make a habit of routinely re-evaluating your assets, keeping in mind economic trends and your personal goals. Sometimes, this may mean letting go of underperformers in favor of assets with brighter horizons.
Consider leveraging tax-advantaged accounts and investment strategies to maximize your wealth growth.
Most importantly, ensure liquidity so you can capitalize on new opportunities. Having liquid assets means you won’t miss out when the next big appreciating asset comes knocking.
Top 5 Appreciating Assets You Must Own
#1 – Stocks with High Growth Potential
Stocks are the daredevils of the investment world, particularly those brimming with high growth potential. They’re the kind that can catapult your net worth to the stratosphere if chosen wisely.
Tech giants like Nvidia, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and Meta are testament to this—their growth over the decades has turned modest investments into fortunes.
Investing in high-growth potential stocks is like spotting a gem in the rough – if you spot the right ones, your financial prospects could shine brightly. You must learn how to invest in stocks for beginners.
Personally, I cannot stress how important it is to learn how to invest in the stock market as I can attest this is how you quickly grow your net worth.
Best For: Investors with a higher risk tolerance who are aiming for greater returns or dividend stocks and have the patience to weather market fluctuations.
#2 – ETFs to Streamline Investments for Optimal Performance
Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) are the investment world’s multitaskers, pooling the potential of various assets for optimum performance. By offering a diversified portfolio within a single share, they allow investors to spread their risk while reaping the growth benefits of different markets and sectors.
ETFs provide an easy and efficient way to diversify investments, reducing risk while still offering growth opportunities. They’re especially game-changing for those who prefer a “set and forget” strategy, as many ETFs are designed to passively track indexes or sectors. Many track the S&P, so you can easily invest in the overall market.
They’re cost-effective, often having lower fees than traditional mutual funds, and are accessible to investors with varying levels of experience.
Best For: Both beginners and experienced investors looking for a blend of simplicity, cost efficiency, and diversification in their investment strategy.
#3 – Real Estate: A Staple in Appreciating Assets
Real estate has long stood as a bulwark in the investment community, a reliable appreciator that doubles as both a tangible asset and a potential home. It’s a market marked by stability and a historical uptrend in value, making it a classic choice for those seeking long-term wealth growth.
Owning property is synonymous with the very concept of asset growth, with the power to withstand economic ebbs and flows. Location continues to be the drumbeat to its rise in value – a prime spot can transform a simple parcel into a gold mine.
Plus it is a tangible asset that provides utility and can serve as a hedge against inflation.
Whether it’s through REITs, crowdfunding platforms like Fundrise, or direct ownership, real estate can anchor your investment strategy on solid ground.
Best For: Investors seeking a tangible asset with a dual aim of long-term capital appreciation and passive rental property income. Ideal for those ready to manage properties or hire management, and for those who can handle the responsibilities of ownership.
#4 – Your Own Business: Betting on Your Entrepreneurial Spirit
Your own business isn’t just a job, it’s a reflection of your passion and an opportunity to control your financial destiny. When successfully executed, a business can become one of the most valuable appreciating assets, offering unparalleled autonomy and potentially substantial economic rewards.
Starting a business can lead to exponential wealth growth as the company expands and becomes profitable.
Your business’s value can significantly increase over time, making it a formidable asset in your net worth.
Owning a business is not just about the profits; it’s a journey of personal growth, resilience, and the triumph of turning passion into paychecks. It’s a path that can lead to great wealth, especially when one approaches it with clear strategy and unquenchable enthusiasm.
Best For: Individuals with entrepreneurial spirit, a viable business idea, and the readiness to invest time and capital into a long-term venture. Suitable for those who are tenacious and willing to face the challenges of entrepreneurship head-on.
#5- Self-Investment: The Ultimate Asset with Infinite Returns
Investing in yourself is like planting a seed that grows into a sturdy, towering tree, sheltering your financial future.
This investment can unlock doors to better opportunities, higher incomes, and greater job satisfaction. Whether it’s through education, health, or personal development, the returns on self-investment can be limitless.
Personal development often correlates with higher levels of personal and financial success.
Remember, when you invest in yourself, you become capable of crafting a life that not only brings in wealth but also contentment and a deeper sense of success.

Other Examples of Appreciating Assets You Can Own
The Role of Bonds in a Diverse Securities
Bonds, those steadfast soldiers of the investment world, offer a buffer of safety amid the high-flying volatility of other assets. In a diversified portfolio, bonds contribute stability and predictable income, making them an essential element for many investor’s strategies.
They provide a fixed income stream with less volatility than stocks, acting as a cushion in economic downturns.
Bonds can offer a balance in investment holdings, mitigating risk and providing steady returns. Just make sure the returns are higher than an interest-bearing money market account.
Best For: Investors seeking to balance their portfolio with a lower-risk asset or those nearing retirement who prioritize income and stability over high growth.
Cryptocurrencies: The Digital Gold of Tomorrow?
Cryptocurrencies have emerged as the mavericks of appreciating assets, offering a wild ride with the allure of high-stakes jackpot payouts. As the “digital gold” of the modern era, they encapsulate the spirit of decentralization and technological innovation.
While their volatility can stir up investor heartbeats, their dramatic price appreciation stories make them impossible to ignore for those seeking the thrill of potentially explosive gains.
Even as the cryptocurrency markets continue to ebb and flow, they offer a unique proposition in wealth growth strategies—a high-risk, high-reward horizon that has many gazing toward the future with wallets in hand.
Best For: Tech-savvy investors with a high risk tolerance, seeking to diversify with a modern asset class that has considerable growth potential.
Fine Art and Collectibles: Value Beyond Beauty
Fine art and collectibles are not just a feast for the eyes; they’re also a banquet for your investment portfolio.
These assets bring value that transcends their aesthetic appeal, becoming cherished as cultural treasures and financial boons alike. With the intrinsic charm of rarity and historical significance, art pieces and collectibles can appreciate substantially over time, especially when curated with an expert eye.
For instance, this rare portrait of George Washington is expected to fetch $2.5 million at an upcoming auction.1
Best For: Connoisseurs with a passion for the arts or history, and investors looking for long-term, value-holding assets that also serve as cultural and personal investments. Ideal for those with substantial capital ready to navigate the less liquid markets.
Precious Metals: Why Gold and Silver Remain Attractive
Gold and silver aren’t just the treasures of lore—they’re enduring staples for those looking to fortify their wealth. Their allure lies in their history, intrinsic value, and the stability they can provide when economic tides turn tumultuous. Gold and silver are known for their resilience during economic downturns and inflationary periods. As such, learn how to invest in precious metals.
They are tangible, finite resources with universal value, often resulting in consistent demand.
Best For: Investors looking to hedge risks or seeking a stable store of wealth.
Prospects of Private Equity in Upcoming Markets
Private Equity (PE) forms the backbone for the next wave of market disruptors and innovators. Investing in private companies, especially in emerging markets, can yield substantial capital appreciation as these businesses grow and mature, sometimes well before they hit the public sphere.
This has significant potential for appreciation as companies scale up their operations and increase their market footprint.
Best For: Sophisticated investors with a high-risk tolerance and a long investment horizon. They typically have a significant amount of capital to invest and are looking for opportunities outside of public markets to achieve potential high returns.
Venture Capital’s Role in Shaping Future Wealth
Venture Capital (VC) is the financial catalyst that turns innovative startups into tomorrow’s industry leaders. By injecting capital into early-stage companies, VC not only generates the potential for staggering returns but also plays a critical role in shaping future markets and consumer trends.
It plays a critical role in shaping the business landscape of tomorrow by investing in innovation today. With its penchant for high-risk ventures, VC remains an appealing asset class for those with a futuristic vision who are keen to be part of the next big thing.

Best For: Investors who have a deep understanding of emerging markets and technologies, a high-risk tolerance, and the patience for long-term investment. Also ideal for those who wish to actively participate in the entrepreneurial process and impact the future direction of new businesses.
The Thriving Market for Vintage Automotive Collectibles
Vintage automotive collectibles are revving up the collectibles market with a roar.

Plus they offer a tangible investment that can be appreciated both visually and through the driving experience.
Best For: Auto enthusiasts who appreciate the craftsmanship of vintage models and are prepared for the hands-on involvement required. Most may see them as a collectible rather than an investment.
Sports Memorabilia as Lucrative Investments
Sports memorabilia takes you on a trip down memory lane, connecting you to pivotal moments and legends of the past. This nostalgia mixed with exclusivity propels their value, making them sought-after assets in the realm of investing.
The emotional and sentimental value tied to sports icons and historical moments can drive considerable investment interest and demand.
Best For: Sports fans who want to combine their passion with investment potential and like to show off their memorabilia.
Land: The Original Real Estate Investment
Land is the progenitor of all real estate investments, offering a blank canvas for potential development or holding value as a scarce resource. With an appeal that has stood the test of time, land remains one of the most fundamental appreciating assets in the investment portfolio.
It is a finite resource; they’re not making any more of it, so demand can only go up as supply remains constant.
Increases in development, population growth, and changes in land zoning can significantly enhance land value over time.
Best For: Investors seeking to hedge against inflation and looking at long-term growth prospects. Land is best for those who have the capital to invest without the need for immediate returns and can wait for the right opportunity to maximize their profits.
Commodities: A Staple in Diverse Investment Portfolios
Commodities offer a slice of the global economic pie, essential for their role in everyday life—from the grain in your breakfast cereal to the petroleum powering your car. As tangible assets, commodities can provide a buffer against inflation and diversify investment portfolios. A similar case could be made for trading currencies.
Commodities, including metals, energy, and agricultural products, often increase in value with inflation and global demand. They provide an investment route less correlated with the stock market, adding portfolio diversification.
Best For: Diversification seekers and those comfortable dealing with market fluctuations who understand global economic trends. Ideal for investors who wish to hedge against inflation and have an interest in tangible or sector-specific assets.
Navigating the High-Yield Savings Landscape
High-yield savings accounts have emerged as essential vehicles for preserving and modestly growing wealth.
In 2022-2024, with interest rates eclipsing their traditional counterparts, these accounts are more relevant than ever for savvy savers seeking to keep pace with inflation. They provide a safe haven for emergency funds or short-term financial goals while offering better returns than a typical savings account.
They provide a low-risk option to grow savings with the added convenience of liquidity. Just like certificates of deposit or CDs.
Best For: Individuals aiming for a secure, accessible place to save money with a better yield than traditional banking products. Especially well-suited for those starting to build their emergency funds or setting aside cash for near-term expenses.
Peer-to-Peer Lending – A Trend to Watch for Asset Growth
Peer-to-peer (P2P) lending shakes up traditional banking by directly connecting borrowers with investors through online platforms. This asset class is gaining traction, providing a novel way to potentially generate higher returns compared to traditional fixed-income investments.
P2P lending platforms offer higher returns on investment over standard savings, as you’re effectively acting as the bank.
It’s a cutting-edge way to diversify your investment portfolio beyond traditional stocks and bonds.
Best For: Investors looking for alternative income streams and who are comfortable with the risk associated with lending money.
Intellectual Property and Patents: An Overlooked Avenue for Wealth Creation
Owning the rights to an invention or unique creation can lead to a wealth of opportunities, with patents often being a gold mine for inventors and savvy investors alike.
Patents, in particular, hold the promise of a decade-long fruitful life, offering the potential for significant monetary returns through licensing or sales.
Best For: Inventors, entrepreneurs, and investors who are versed in industries where innovations are rapidly commercialized. It’s well-suited for those able to navigate the intricacies of patent law and capable of investing in the enforcement and marketing of their IP.
Alternative Investments: Unique Opportunities for Accredited Investors
Accredited investors have the advantage of accessing a broader range of alternative investments that may not be available to the general public, offering potentially higher returns and portfolio diversification. These can include private equity, hedge funds, and exclusive real estate deals.
It’s crucial, however, for accredited investors to conduct thorough due diligence and assess their risk tolerance when allocating a portion of their portfolio to these alternative assets.
Best For: Seasoned investors looking for diversification and higher risk-reward ratios and qualify as an accredited investor.
Luxury Goods: When Opulence Equals Investment
Luxury goods are not only symbols of status and opulence but can also solidify your investment game. High-end watches, designer handbags, and exclusive jewelry collections often see their value climb, defying the usual wear-and-tear depreciation.
They resonate with collectors and enthusiasts, transforming personal indulgence into a viable investment strategy.
Best For: Investors with a penchant for the finer things in life and enthusiasts looking to blend personal enjoyment with financial gain.
Secrets of the Antique Trade: Seeking Out Hidden
The antique trade is akin to a treasure hunt, where seasoned savvy meets the thrill of discovery. Unearthing hidden gems within flea markets, estate sales, and auction houses not only provides a historical connection but can also reveal investment diamonds in the rough.
Antiques carry the potential for significant bottom line appreciation due to factors like rarity, provenance, and desirability among collectors.
Like finding this antiquated nautical map at an estate sale and now listed for $7.5 million. 2
Best For: Collectors with a passion for history and an eye for value.
What If You Have A Depreciative Asset?
If you’re holding onto a depreciative asset, it’s like grasping a melting ice cube: time can whittle away its value.
Consider selling to repurpose the capital into something that appreciates, upgrading to a more efficient model, or simply using it fully before its value dips too low. Each depreciative asset requires a tailored strategy, balancing between cutting losses and extracting maximum utility.
It’s a strategic financial dance — knowing when to hold on and when to let go of depreciative assets can ensure they serve your bottom line more than they hurt it.
FAQs
Appreciating assets are financial powerhouses that grow your wealth over time. They combat inflation and can provide additional income streams.
By increasing in value, they enhance your net worth, creating a more robust financial foundation for your future endeavors.
Appreciating assets are typically categorized based on their nature and the way they generate value. Common categories include tangible assets like real estate and collectibles, financial assets like stocks and bonds, and intangible assets like patents and copyrights.
The assets that don’t often depreciate include real estate, precious metals like gold and silver, and certain collectibles such as fine art or vintage cars. These assets maintain value or appreciate over time, resistant to the typical wear and tear or technological obsolescence that affects other assets.
Which Asset that Has Appreciation in Value Interests You
In conclusion, adding appreciating assets to your portfolio is a strategic move towards achieving financial security and building long-term wealth.
These assets combat inflation by potentially increasing in value over time, providing an opportunity to earn returns that exceed the average inflation rate.
However, these assets are not considered to be part of your liquid net worth. With all appreciating assets, you must consider the potential taxes on your various investments.
To facilitate this wealth-building strategy, it’s vital to practice saving diligently—consider automating your savings, cutting unnecessary expenses, and increasing income streams. By consistently setting aside funds, you can gradually invest in diverse appreciating assets such as stocks, real estate, or retirement accounts.
This is how you start forming a life consistent with financial freedom.

Tom Brady, the NFL legend known for his incredible career and for leading his teams to a record seven Super Bowl wins, is making waves off the field in Miami’s real estate scene.
His latest venture? A jaw-dropping waterfront mansion in the ultra-exclusive Indian Creek Island, affectionately dubbed “Billionaire Bunker.”
Yes, you heard that right – Brady is setting up his new bachelor pad in one of the most coveted slices of paradise in Miami, and let me tell you, it’s nothing short of spectacular.
For those keeping score at home, Indian Creek Island isn’t just any neighborhood. It’s a veritable who’s who of billionaires and A-listers, with names like Jeff Bezos and Ivanka Trump calling it home.
And now, Brady, fresh off his retirement and stepping into his new life chapter, is about to join this elite roster.
Tom Brady’s megamansion in Miami’s ultra-exclusive Indian Creek Island
Brady’s future digs, a sprawling estate that’s been the talk of the town, sits cozily across the waterway from the abode of his ex-wife, Gisele Bündchen.
The supermodel paid $11.5 million for her new spread at 1400 Biscaya Drive in Surfside right after their split and is currently revamping the waterfront home too.

So while the former A-list couple is keeping local construction crews busy, let’s take a closer look at the former New England Patriots quarterback’s sprawling Florida abode — and pin down what makes his newly built mansion a touchdown in luxury living.
Set at 26 Indian Creek Island Road, Tom Brady’s house in Miami has all the hallmarks of a celebrity megamansion to rival those of its deep-pocketed neighbors (Amazon boss Jeff Bezos paid $68 million for a teardown on the island).
We’re talking about a state-of-the-art gym (because, of course), a sleek study, and a waterfront pool and spa that screams relaxation with every ripple.
And for those balmy Florida nights? An outdoor kitchen, lush gardens, and a tree-lined driveway that leads to a motor court, ready to house Brady’s collection of high-end rides.
The property also boasts a plush pool cabana adjacent to an infinity pool lined with palm trees, creating a backyard oasis that’s second to none.
And for that extra touch of privacy and security? A large security house stands guard at the entrance.
Renderings of the mega-mansion have leaked, showing off the primary and guest suites, each with their own terraces.
You can take a peek inside thanks to these indoor renderings obtained by The Real Deal (swipe to see inside Tom Brady’s new house in Florida):
The interiors bear the signature of lauded designer Scott Mitchell of Scott Mitchell Studio, known for his standout designs, combining contemporary architecture with geometrical elements and juxtaposing soft, tactile textures against concrete and other natural materials.
Mitchell’s design style, which creates a sense of understated comfort, has drawn in some of the richest people in the US.
Beyond his long-standing collaboration with Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen, he also counted billionaires Larry Ellison and David Geffen as clients, as well as former Walt Disney Studios boss Jeffrey Katzenberg.
It’s clear no expense has been spared in creating this slice of heaven. With construction in the final stages, sources hint that Brady is expected to move in come spring.
By the numbers: How much it’ll cost him
Now, let’s talk numbers because they’re just as impressive as the property.
Brady and Bündchen snagged the 2-acre lot almost three years ago for a cool $17 million. And as hefty as that might sound, it’s worth remembering that the lot sits in one of the richest neighborhoods in the United States.
Properties here typically sell for eight-figure amounts and are rarely up for grabs.
In 2023, a waterfront mansion just down the street from Tom Brady’s house listed for a whopping $85 million. We haven’t seen any other Indian Creek houses pop up on the market since.
But the land cost isn’t reflective of the overall value of the property — which sits north of $50 million.
The construction loan Brady took out from JPMorgan Chase to build his Indian Creek Island house sits at a whopping $35 million, The Real Deal reports.
But when you’re Tom Brady, with an estimated net worth of $500 million and a $375 million deal with FOX as an NFL commentator waiting in the wings, well, let’s just say he’s playing in a league of his own.
Indian Creek Island has long been a haven for the mega-rich, but Brady’s new abode is set to raise the bar even higher. And while he’s traded the gridiron for the good life in Florida, it’s clear Brady is still in the game – the real estate game, that is.
Hunkering down in the ‘Billionaire Bunker’
Indian Creek Island — known as “Billionaire Bunker” due to the high concentration of billionaires that own property here — is a high-security paradise for the ultra-wealthy, nestled on a barrier island in Biscayne Bay, Florida.
This exclusive enclave boasts under 50 waterfront properties, each sprawling over 1.25 acres, centered around a lavish 18-hole golf course.
Homes here are no small investment, with properties here selling for well above the $20 million market, with recent standout purchases consolidating the island’s air of affluence and privacy. Just a couple of homes have traded hands on the ultra-exclusive island in recent years, one being Bezos’ $68 million purchase, and the other another $50 million home.
DJ and producer David Guetta is also looking to join this exclusive club, reportedly snapping up a $69 million newly built house on the island.
The community is so secure that it has its own 13-person private police force patrolling by land and water, ensuring that residents like Tom Brady can enjoy their sanctuary without worry.
From what we’ve seen so far, the NFL legend’s new mansion is more than just a home; it’s a sort of statement that life after football can be equally exciting for the five-time MVP.
And honestly, we can’t wait to see the final reveal. Welcome to the neighborhood, Tom!
